Wanting to know what everyone’s suggested mods are for the 29 gallon bio cube?

Problems I’m having,

-Original Protein Skimmer works but isn’t great.

-Lights aren’t great for the corals (any suggestions)

-The Fan for the lights run loud

-The temp has been hell to maintain ranges 76 Degrees to 82 Degrees over a couple days.

-Suggestions on filter media (already replaced bioballs for live rock rubble)

Any suggested mods that helped you run your tank at its best is super appreciated!

Steve’s LEDs for lights. Poly fill and fluval fx-4 filtration.

Do they fit in the back or will the hood have to come off so they can hang? I’m thinking about removing the hood altogether and hooking up my reef octopus 1000 to take care of the protein skimmed.
Definitely easier to lower the temps without the hood.
Intank nano skimmers aren’t that great imo
I run the aquatic life just for aeration.
Maxijet 1200 for a return
Lightning options are also greater without the hood.

I have the sametank and don’t run anything back there anymore. It was always full of ditrus. I now have the Brs dual reactor for carbon and gfo if I need it instead of having a tiny fuge or expensive media like chemipure blue or elite. Not saying you can’t run those. A lot of this is just personal preference but still options for ya. :)

Thanks, I’m open to learning different things that have worked for anyone who runs this tank.

I have the top on. The lights plug and play. The Fx-4 runs through holes in the back. Second chamber sucks. Cheato reactor is a good thing to have also. Really cheap to build

Million ways to run theses but for what it’s worth I have the Biocube skimmer in chamber one mostly for gas exchange, chamber two I run bio balls / chemipure / floss, third chamber stock return pump / heater / ATO float switch.. use nanobox LEDs and keep the lid slightly propped open to avoid heat build up. Two years ago all corals in this tank where quarter size frags or smaller and the clam was about 2”

I upgraded to the innovative marine nano pump. It’s a nice little dc pump.

Using the larger one on a 40 breeder it really moves some water, run it about 80%
