I have a standard 29 gallon aquarium(30”x12”x18”). The trim is an ugly faux wood plastic, and I was thinking of removing it and euro bracing the tank. I had a few questions. Should I brace the top and bottom? How thick should the glass be? And would 2” wide glass for the brace be ok?

Thanks for any help.

you should leave the bottom trim alone. The glass is too thin to maintain integrity without it. You can remove the top frame and euro brace it. 2" glass should be fine. Here's a guide I stumbled across in the past in case you find it helpful, all credit to the creator:

The bottom trim is broken. That’s one of the big reasons I was thinking of doing the internal euro brace I the bottom. Like seen in the bottom picture.

I'd just buy a new tank at that point to be honest with you, it'll probably be cheaper.
