Has anyone ever had 3 radions over a standard 90? I'm setting up a 90 gallon and happen to have 3 radions. Could always use one to light the refugium.

This depends on what you want to keep and which Radion. For a acropora tank, on one end of the spectrum, 3x xr30s might not be quite enough... but on the other end with softies and a few LPS, a pair of XR15s would probably be fine.

If you post about what you are thinking about keeping and which Radions you have, you will get some better advice.

They are gen 3 XR30s. I was growing acros no problem in my 180 with them but I'm downsizing now and wasn't sure if it would be crazy to try to jam all 3 over the 90.

Totally up to you. Some acropora people use 3x xr30s to cover each 24x24 inch area and some people use one and live with the lower light outside of the cone and the shadowing. If you have them, then why not use them?

Did you feel like it gave you a better spread than just 2 would have?

I have two Gen3s over my 105 gallon running a SPS dominated reef and the lights are only maxing out around 40%.......three would be overkill I think. I do have two islands though.....if you had wall to wall coral then three might help I guess.

no spread was never an issue I already had 2 and found one at a lfs for $100 they thought it was broke they did not know it needed to be hooked to a computer lol. it was overkill for sure they are just very powerfull lights I don't know how people run them at 100 percent. in the end I did not like the color separation and went with 3 kessils I have them at 80 percent tops they to are powerfull
