Hey guys, just wanted to share my 320 gallon Reef tank build with everyone. So for going on 2 years now I have kept salt water tanks. Biggest being 125 gallon, smallest a 65 gallon. Well the wife and I got a new house and I was itching to get a massive reef tank so I did. 8ft x 2ft x 32”.
my work was cut out for me as it was a leaking tank. So we drove the 2.5hrs from Maryland to Virginia somewhere and bought it. With me having prior reseal experience and the tools and know how once we got the tank back to my shop we started work on it. We completly cut the tank apart, used ASI silicone and the bottom brace was a little old so we Euro braved both top and bottom of the tank. With this being my forever tank I really wanted it to be a show piece. That being said the stand would be 10ft long (1ft longer on each side) to hide any and all plumbing while having one side dedicated to all the wiring.
We are far from done on completing it but here it is as of now. The tank back and both sides are painted black to give the setup a really nice look.
Also the tank will all be ran by nothing other then Maxspect. Will post pictures and item #’s that I am using at a later date.

Filtration will be a 125 gallon aquarium that has been converted into a sump.
Aqua scape will be made by Chandler Rocks.
Still have a long ways to go but hoping to have it up and running by end of this year!

It looks like you are off to a good start on a big adventure!!! This would be a good candidate for a build thread - please let me know if you would like help moving it to that section.

@Peace River crap! I must have hit the wrong one but yes if you can move it to the build thread that be amazing!!

No worries! I moved the thread and added the build thread banner under your avatar/screen name. Now if you click on your build thread banner it will take you directly to your build thread! Good luck with the new setup!

A little update. Got the stand about 90% done. Just have to do the main face where the doors will attach to and get that painted. Plan is to have the stand and tank in place by the 22nd of this month. So fingers crossed on that game plan.

Wanted to post a update, since I haven’t in a little while been super busy with life. But the tank is 100% setup and running. I dumped 64 oz of the Fritz turbo start into the tank about 2 weeks ago and added 2 smaller clowns to the tank. Tank is showing great signs of stability and hoping to start adding some of my tangs in there this weekend. I have the lights exactly where I want them now and kinda glad I do have them where I do because I really wanted some type of hammer garden and it looks like some of the trim shades out JUST enough of the light in the center of the tank and allows enough par and flow through there to make the center of the tank my hammer garden. So pretty happy about that. Will continue to update as I get more fish in there and start adding corals

Looking good!! Great Aquascape!!! What kind of lights are you using? What did you do for a sump?

I'm planning a project of a similar size and I'm looking around or ideas.

Lights are Maxspect lights the 300 watt ones believe the Razor X’s.
The sump is a 125 gallon aquarium that I converted to a sump. The baffles were custom made by Jaxracks (he is on ebay) he has done all of my sumps and overflows on 4 of my setups now.
Feel free to PM me with any questions and I will help the best I can.

Aaaah, you went 6 foot. This is where I'm sticking. My current 135 has a 55G sump that I got for $20 because it was scratched to death. I had a local glass cutter make some baffles and put them in. It works great but it's too small for a 300. I'm stuck between the 75, and 125 for my sump, the cost is a factor, plus I would need to completely redesign my frag tank to fit everything on that wall if I had 6 feet of sump.

I really think you have the right idea with 6 feet though.

Thank you!

Yea the 320 is 8ft x 2ft x 32”.
So really wanted to showcase the sump under the tank. I found a used 125 for $100, resealed it and then installed the baffles.
Good luck with you build!
