So my experiment is going well I'll update that post soon.. But I needed another tank one as a control and one as a variable. So I have been slowly piecing together a 40 breeder I build the frame stand this week and picked up the new cadlights skimmer on black Friday for cheap .. It's rated up too a 120 I may be over skimming a little ...;) but let me know what you think of the stand do u think I need the center brace? The picture makes the stand look taller but its only 36 in tall

You shouldnt need it but you could if you feel uneasy about it run a piece under the center and screw it in place with angle brackets to the frame

After I built it btw first real weight bearing project I've attempted unsupervised haha I had som buddies come help me weight tested 3 grown men on it about 700 lbs it held. I'm thinking about routing about a 1/4 inch deep notch on the inside of The top of the frame to give the tank a lip to sit in is this a bad idea?

It should hold fine. I built this stand to hold a 40b and 20l in my basement... kind of similar in design...

Please excuse the mess... wife decided that anything that didn't belong where she wanted it belonged in the basement... problem has been remedied.

i wouldnt route. That would take forevever. I would take a trim piece and build on top around the tank

E-mail the guys there and they will make a suggestion for you, definitely not the nano, I think they suggested the Super Nano con Dientes or the 700 for this setup...

Should have great coverage and of course that shimmer effect is amazing with LED's.

I'm good with electronics , honestly anyone can do it with the internet the trick is to just take your time and plan and triple check all your connections.i honestly had more problems with the stand than I did anything else the tank would sit uneven on the wood , to I disambled everything found out that I had a bowed 2x4 ... I was so tired of working on it !!!!!!!!!! I am no carpenter that's for sure. Hoping to get the tank plumbed tonight does anyone have any tips on that ? I'm gonna be using PVC and purple primer and PVC cement .

make sure you don't skimp on the glue, I was thinking my buddy was using too much on mine, but when it started leaking, I thought again....

I don't use primer just put a nice ammount on both pieces. And when buying wood u gotta check every piece for curves especially 2x4s.
