I was close to the jebao powerheads, and still may return what i have for a set of those i like that they come with a controller. I believe i read somewhere that you were having noise issues with the glass holes setup did you ever get anywhere with that? I have the same thing.

Wasn't me having noise issues with my overflow. It's been pretty quiet for 3yrs and it sits in my living room 5' from my couch [emoji16]

Good to hear...must have been a different persons thread then. Did you use hard plumb yours or use flexible stuff?

Well test run with tap was successful for the most part. One small leak at the return elbow going back into the tank not sure why ill dig into when i break it back down. Mag 7 return pump is a little noisy which is dissapointing may look at other option not sure yet. Also got some noise from the oveflow box but all in all im happy with how everything came out.

Next ill hook up my rodi (need to setup a storage container for it as well) and get the tank in place and will be about ready for a cycle [emoji16]

Im currently making plans to build a 40 breeder tank and i like your plumbing! Do you have an overflow box for the drain?

Yup its the glass-holes overflow kit comes with the bits to drill the glass and everything, but i just tested it last night and it was a little noisy, but im hoping i can fine tune it a little when i get everything in place. I have heard people saying on here the Synergy overflows are pretty good; i kind of wish i went that route. The plumbing came out pretty good just sch 40 and spray painted it black to match, the only thing i dont care for is the filter sock holder, but i may not even end up using filter socks so if i opt out then i will probably just cut it out. If you have any questions about my setup let me know im happy to help if i can.

So i decided i am returning the mag 7 and going to go with something else. The hum was just too loud with the tank up and running in my basement; i cant imagine it upstairs above our bedroom. When the return is processed i think ill try the sicce syncra 3.0. I would like to stay around the 700gph range because that is what the mag7 was and everything ran pretty well off that speed with headloss and such. Im open to other suggestions though if people have them.

I've been very happy with my Jabeo DC Sine wave pump. It's totally silent and variable speed.

Nothing special happening yet i am waiting on my new pump to show up. Went with the Sicce 4000 hope its quieter than the mag drive, but we will see. Dr. Foster and Smith is running 20% off on pumps this weekend just a headsup. Also replaced the outlet where everything will be plugged in with a GFCI just as a precaution. The tank and everything will be moved to its final resting place this weekend and hopefully i can get some containers setup to make some RO/DI. Then just waiting for my new pump. Have a great weekend everybody!

Water going in pretty pumped will be able to finish filling it tonight and get the salt mixed. Need to level the stand also seeing as i found out that my level is off (strangest thing when you turn it around you get a different reading each way [emoji33]). Will post again later this evening when i get the salt in and hopefully put the sand and rock in as well to get cycling. [emoji482]

Water is in and salty, but i am disappointed with the noise level of the drain. The new sicce pump i feel is louder than the mag 7 o_O i am hoping it will break in and quiet down over time, but may be wishful thinking. @NanaReefer you said your glassholes setup is quiet right? If i cant get anywhere getting the drain to quiet down i may look into the flexible tubing you said your using. The noise isnt coming from the overflow box itself its just water running down my plumbing thats making the noise. I tried tinkering with the air vent they sent and the valves but nothing really made an impact and i dont want to close off too much i feel like i am asking for a flood if i close the drain off too much. Thoughts anyone?

Also believe i have a design flaw in my sump. I am getting some stagnant water in my return section in the right. Any thoughts on how to remedy that?

Ypu might want to add some kind of ball or gate valve to the drain that might quote it down raising the water level

I have a ball valve on both the drain and the return and have not really had any success making a dent in the noise. I have read else where that i have too much flow going through it but i have closed off my return line a fair bit and still no luck. Idk maybe i just havent found the magic combination yet.
