I purchased a Mystery Wrasse on Wednesday night. On thursday it was eating prepared foods and looking fine, although it wouldn't come out from underneath the rocks, but I did see it eat when I was feeding. Anyways, I have been searching my tank for the last 45 minutes and I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

As for my setup I have a mesh screen top on my tank and it would be close to impossible for this guy to jump out. Has anyone out there purchased a Mystery Wrasse before and had it hide for a day or 2 before coming out?... Please say that's what's happening. :squigglemouth:

the mystery wasse is named like that because back in the day they were hard to come by and are pretty criptive. Like any other wrassde the hide a lot until the are comfortable with there new surrondings. I've had a couple of them they are good eaters and adapt preety fast.Probably hiding in the sand bed.

Mine somehow finds was to get into the overflow box, and he is about 3.5". Still cant quite figure it out.

Thanks for the posts guys, I appreciate it. As of right now there's still no sign of him. I checked in the sump... didn't see anything. I would check the overflow box, but unfortunately my tank is built into the wall and there's no way for me to see in it. Here's a pic of my tank so you have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Man this sucks. I'm hoping he is just hiding, but I've personally never had a fish that hid for more than a few hours before seeing it. We're going on it's second day of no appearance... pray for him, friends.

is there a way to pull your overflow pipes out of the overflow box?if so that will flush the fish to the sump IF thats where it is.i have seen wrasses hide for well over two days before and appear out of nowhere.it most likely is hiding or in the overflow.
