I have a few year old, SPS dominated tank with a Neptune Sky that has been doing well. I am hitting a point of growth where shadowing and spread to the tank edges are becoming an issue.

So the question is, what should I upgrade to, ideally a "forever light" where I can get the next few years out of it without revisiting this much like I have with the Sky.

Tank is 30"x24" and about 14" deep.

A few things I have been thinking about as nice to haves:

1. A single light would be great but dual would work too
2. Ideally want to move closer to the water line to limit light bleeding into the room. Currently mounted about 10" above water line
3. Spread edge to edge is key. My shadowing on the sides of the tank is stating to become problematic
4. App control is nice but not essential. I think I last touched my settings a year ago anyway.
5. Currently leaning blue spectrum but debating going more white with a new setup. Having flexible options here would be great.
6. Ceiling mount, ideally with the same kit for Neptune Sky

Lights I have considered:
1. Dual XR 15s
2. Single ATI Straton
3. 2/3 AI Blades. 3 likely for better range
4. Single XR 30

Holiday discounts have me itching for this being my yearly "big" upgrade for the tank. So what would you go with on a 50gal SPS dominated tank?

Appreciate the thoughts and consideration in advance.

My opinion is the Ati Straton checks off everything you are looking for. Get one that closely matches your tank dimensions and you won’t have to upgrade in the future. They have high par when you need it, blanket lighting, beautiful blue spectrum and the ceiling mount allows you to get close to the water line while raising them to maintain the tank.

They under drive the high quality led which leads to a long life span of the fixture. No fans are always a plus. Very elegant light that complements our home and doesn’t look like a science project. Mine is the original Straton. I just purchased a Nyos 250 that it will be going over.

Yeah this is also the way I am leaning currently. The spread vs dimensions of the light seem to be a great fit amongst all of the technical sides.
