So this came about because I was trying to turn my original ever saltwater tank into a frag system that I could frag my corals and keep them off to the side and not in my main display. It was a 20 long and the drilling process went really well. Sadly though the tank cracked because I had tightened a bulkhead to hard.
So after that I had decided that I wanted to go a different route and wanted to go with something larger. I was able to find a 50 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank for what I feel to be cheap at the local tractor supply store.
I dig the dimensions of it and for $60 I thought it was a solid deal. After having it sit on my floor for about a week I figured it would probably be time to build a stand for it. I went with the tried and true 2x4 stand
After that was constructed I painted it with an oil based flat white paint.
I realized during this that I simply hate painting stuff and vowed never again and to beg my wife to do it next time. Once this fun process was over I figured I probably should plump it and get the old eshopps sump in place.
Now comes the juicy part! Water!!!!
Now it’s been sitting like that for about a week or two. The issue moving forward is my wife uses my ATI t5 fixture for her Chamaeleon and I’m waiting on her to decide which cheap t5 fixture she’s gonna get so I can have mine back! But I’m mildly impatient so I decided today to make a pvc light stand and use a crappy black box that I have.
I put a couple zoas in there to see how they will do just for the time being. Waiting for a skimmer stand to show up today. Once it gets here I’ll update further.
