@rvitko - Yesterday, my 5017 Osmolator quit working and the "Too Low" and "Too High" lights started blinking red.

From what I've read, the cause is most likely some saltwater got in the controller and messed up the circuit board. So I removed the circuit board and did notice what could be residual saltwater on the back of the board. So I did my best to clean it up with isopropyl alcohol, but it didn't work.

So does it look like I have to send the controller in to get fixed, or maybe get a new circuit board?

Thanks for any help :)

Usually the issue is this as shown, the power supply tip was plugged in after it landed in water, the water damage is under the power socket, if not, it followed a sensor wire into the controller, the other side is where I would check more closely. Minor water damage I can usually fix and nothing jumps out at me in either the video or the picture as being just totally ruined.

Thanks for the instantaneous response!

On the power supply tip ... The controller is on the outside of my sump and I hadn't take out the power supply tip in months, so could it still be the problem you mentioned?

FYI, after it quit working, I also cleaned the sensors in citric acid for about 15 minutes. They were really encrusted with calcium deposits, so I wouldn't be surprised if the optical sensor wasn't working. But that didn't fix it either.

So should I send it to you to fix, or is there something else I should try? If so, would I just send the controller?

Thanks again!

Also, here's some pics of the top of the board, that might help.

I believe I can see the water damage is under the power socket, it is barely visible on the right side of the socket.

Please send the controller for repair-

As follow-up, Roger repaired the circuit board and the Controller now works perfectly.

There's a reason the Tunze Osmolator is the best selling ATO out there, and that reason is Roger.

Thanks again and all the best. :)

Yes, but I would generally suggest opening it and checking first, water damage that is widespread or affects the upper portion of the circuit board will not be repairable and in that case, shipping is just an additional expense. You are welcome to send a photo before sending it in, I can usually assess repairability from a clear photo.

OK, good news, in some cases if it is freshwater it will work once dried, saltwater often leaves salt under the power socket and may act up later.

My board just started to flash red on the two outside lights. Is this something worth sending it for repair, if you still offer repair?

Since I do not see any damage, I presume it is under the power socket, which is the most common and caused by plugging in a wet power supply tip, this is almost always repairable, send the complete 5017.000 controller, I don;t need magnets, pump, power supply but if we have to recalibrate it we need the sensors and the board can be damaged if outside the housing.

As if any of you did not know that rvitko was the man, he fixed my controller and another pump. Service is why you don't buy other types of things. Well done.

Yes, that is the water damage indicator, the best place to start is a clear photo of the circuit board, from there we can assess if this is repairable.

My controller got some freshwater on it. I took it apart to let it air dry. When I plugged in the power supply, one red light stays lit and the other blinks. Suggestions, Roger?
