First post here,

I have a fluval 13.5 Gal as my first tank (1.5 years old). Currently have a pair of clowns and a pistol shrimp goby pair, on top of a CUC + Pods dosed from reef nutrition whenever I order more phyto and they give me a free bottle.

I'm looking to eventually upgrade and have done EXTENSIVE research about the biggest tank I can/want to upgrade to (Been in freshwater for 6+ years). I'm pretty set on the Red Sea Reefer Max 250 G2+ (with their skimmer, roller mat, and the whole 9 yards). It's a 54 Gallon display with 11gal sump. Please hold off on the Red Sea Comments, I've also done plenty of research and I enjoy the ecosystem for everything, thanks in advance.

I'm planning in advance for plenty of hiding spots aquascape wise.

Below is the stocking plan I'm "considering" after research... What's everyone's thoughts as I'd love a Midas & Lawnmower blenny, as well as a flame hawkfish. However, I'm aware of the risks between territory fights between the Blennys and the Flame Hawkfish reportedly eating shrimp (not worried about the pistol shrimp). I've highlighted the probable conflicts in the picture below.

-------> Thinking about removing the Royal Gramma due to bio load.

Any experience as to the chance of the Hawkfish eating the Fire Shrimp or CUC (blue leg hermits)?

I'm aware of the possible conflicts between 2 blennys in one tank, but any personal experience at this size?

I do plan on having corals, but just GSP, Zoas, Torches, Bubble tips etc. As a substitute, I'd also consider a blue dot jawfish.

Any guidance would be appreciated, I'm here to learn.

The fish prices are coming from Dr Reef, hence the higher than normal price IMO. Fish sizes might be off by an inch here and there. Pods with a CUC will also be added.

Thanks.

I would just choose a Midas or a lawnmower. There’s a chance they would get along but its best to just get one.

As long as the the tank is big enough flame hawks can be okay with shrimps, but you just never know, every fish is different.

Other than that everything else is fine.

Thanks for the reply! Definitely prefer the Midas over the lawnmower. Appreciate it.

That’s what I’ve been hearing about flame hawks, hit or miss and as you said, each fish is different.

I don’t have a flame hawk but do have a Longnose Hawkfish and it gets along just fine with my scarlett cleaner shrimp and banded cleaner shrimp. It so got along fine with my lawnmower Blenny. I have a 110g display with decent amount of rockscape to hide in.

Thanks for the info! My wife really wants a clear or fire shrimp, so any that I can to do keep her interested in the hobby is a major plus. Thanks for sharing your experience.
