Ugly phase?

Ugly but also beautiful with those new fish. No idea why but I like watching the tang. I thought he was going to be an eye sore when before I got him (maybe because I've usually looked at yellow tangs in photos. I got him to eat the hair algae). But he is neat. He hides from the flow and the jumps out of the rock and waves in it and shoots around to the other corner where there is less flow and runs back into the rock hiding space and picks some stuff around the corner as he pokes his head out. (My guess is he wasn't use to it from the pet store since their water had much less movement). Also my cleaner shrimp got ahold of him a couple times the first day. Never seen my shrimp attach to the clownfish so I have a video of that when he tried to clean my fish.

Very cool. I'm glad your taking the uglies well.

Its pretty neat watching them get used to their new home.

This bansai I feel is really taking off.
You can see around the base it is full of small polyps and starting to get a bump which I'm hoping is a new shoot.

I don't check my parameters but I think alk is at 7.8 as default (since I believe that is what my goniapora likes). Also I put a plastic screen up in my kitchen. I think that is raising the fish tank pH since all the air from any early morning water boiling is kept away from the tank (we boil on the gas stove).

You can see it before.

Fish jumped. What the heck? Why did two of my clowns jump recently? :/

Often because they got startled by something. Some kind of screen lid would help - eggcrate's not perfect, but it's better than nothing, and BRS supplies kits that'll keep most fish where they belong. (Some assembly required...)

~Bruce, sorry for your losses . . .

Bruce,
I agree with the lid.

Should he check for stray voltage?

Thanks, Freddie

That's not a bad idea . . . Might be what's startling the fish.

If I were in Flop's shoe's, I'd give brew12 a shout.
That's one of his niche's. :)

I’ll be taking my tank down and putting everything into a 20gallon long. This tank will become freshwater planted tank. I haven’t been upkeeping the tank well enough. A 20g long will be easier to keep since it easier to make enough salt water. I can fully stock it faster..

Going to put t5s on it. Keep the LEDs for the plants.

I’ve been on offerup. Spotted a nano skimmer for $20. Thinking about swooping up that deal :) also saw a 4x T5HO light fixture, used. Trying to get my computer working to see what par I can get in this 20 gallon with the 2 T5HO wondering if I need to go more or just leave it.

Apparently my computer took a dump and needs everything reset. Need that working to use the Seneye.

I’ll probably buy some more livestock too. Been getting a lot of overtime again. :)

Now a freshwater planted tank.

The saltwater has been moved into a 20G long.
