That's a bacterial infection that normally starts from failed sheds.

I'm 2/3 saving a leather, after it's started the blackening. I've had to cut off all the necrosis.

What kind of flow is it in? I trim away all the black then move it to medium-High flow if you have the option.

Low flow currently moved it a month or 2 ago. Could dip coral rx and brush off that bad?

Then put in higher flow.

Low flow is not suitable for most leathers as they require flow to shed. It's likely been trying to shed away the yuck but unable to, and turned necrotic.

Coral rx has nothing in it that I'm aware of, that helps on necrotic tissue. May still be worth a try.

You can try brushing off all the gunk that's there but if it's anything like mine have been, the black will come back Very quickly.

On way to necrotic for sure. I think that helped shed a lot of the tissue. Should help recovery.

Colt and blue nepthea is fine!

Haven't found much that can go in my back left low flow area :/

Goes to show you don't always get to choose scape.

That's why I was asking if there were any chunks or gouging in the flesh when pulling off the tissue, my experience when there's necrosis there's usually noticable pitting. ::Insert the missing ***** shrug emoji::

I like those odds :)

Your full course of treatment include anything different that what I've done?
My full course of treatment was very simple. Aggressively cut back away from the infected flesh and move the coral into high flow. I did have to come back a few times and snip black tips as it was healing but they do heal pretty quickly
