I'm planning a 75 gallon reef and I have been stuck on what fish to keep. I know I can keep more but here is my plan right now:
4-5 Chromis (type undecided, probably blue/green because I like the colour)
Some type of clownfish pair, probably ocellaris.
Mandarin Dragonet (tank will have a fuge with chaeto to support pods.)
some sort of bristletooth tang, likely kole eye.
Possibly an anthias or two, one of the smaller types and i may need an auto feeder.
This tank is going to be very openly aquascaped, and will have a few zoas, montis and acros to start out with, a few days/weeks after the initial setup to allow for system stabilization.
This is going to be an office tank so active fish are a must.

Imo the fish list sounds good. The sps however may be happier once the tank matures more than a few weeks imo. Personally i was scared of acros till inpassed the 1 year mark. But maybe overly concerned

I've never had trouble with SPS in my 10 gallon nano, the acro frag i have is growing and has pretty good color despite the salinity swings. Honestly I haven't had many issues with coral, the only coral I have lost was due to a conch acting dumb and burying a monti and small hammer, or algae overtaking a GSP early in the tank's life. What sort of other fish (if any) would you add?

Anthias can be very hard to keep alive and fed properly. IMO no tank is complete without wrasse. Yellow "coris" wrasse and melanarus are sure to please both temperament and appearance-wise

Fairy and flasher wrasses provide color and activity, and smaller Halichoeres can help w coral pests.

The above mentioned zebra or scissortail dartfish add action.

If you do anthias, the sunburst does well singly, but is secretive. Randalls and dispars are a good starter anthias but do better in groups of 5+.

Other suggestions include: midas blenny, purple tilefish, grammistes blenny.

Okay, I have good news. The tank is probably going to be upgraded to a 110 gallon I found on craigslist. I haven't bought it yet but it's a great deal. I will go see it on friday, and update the thread.
