I just went deeper on that thread... I noticed he has a false bottom. I was thinking about adding one the other day. I think it would really help with the bubbles. I'll probably put a bigger fixture in the bottom, along with another one, later on to drain better... But I went with the parts I had on hand for the moment. I added some creative tubing that helped with bubbles, for a current quick solve.

Not sure about a false bottom but there are so many variations of an ATS. The latest thing seems to be turning reactors into ATSs. I would think once you get some growth it will help stop the bubbles. In any case I have a bubble trap after my ATS so I’m not worried about it. Some people like to enclose the whole box in black acrylic so light can’t bleed out into the sump.

Of course that’s an extreme version but you get the idea.

Got into our new house. I have a never ending list of projects to do so it might be a while before I get back to the tank unfortunately. Probably at some point when I’m redoing the basement. Depending on how things go down there I may put in a big plywood tank after my 75gal mixed reef is done. If I do a plywood tank I want to go 300gal or bigger depending on space. Just thinking about all the house projects gives me a headache LOL.

Basement is almost gutted then construction can begin. Not sure where I’m going to put the tank yet. I would like to add an in wall tank that’s 300gal or more but I’m also not sure about that yet as well. Going to make a utility closet so the water changing station can go in there. So much work to do before I can get going on the tank again. Someone did a really poor job at putting together this basement. The walls weren’t insulated and were paper thin.

My stand is made out of 2x4's and plywood. I went with oak and a dark stain for the wrap. I used an epoxy for the inside to make it water resistant.

So I was thinking for the big plywood tank to have it as a wall or possibly doing an L and having the tank as two walls. If I do one wall I would end up with about a 300gal tank.

Looks like a fun I want to plumb my upstairs tank to my basement system someday. Just hard to drill holes in my floors and run all the plumbing. It will be good for you have everything built into the walls.

I’m redoing the basement. It will be an L shape. I got a little over 13 ft long I could go. I was thinking about 2 ft wide. The back wall would probably give me another 11 or 12 feet. It would be my dream tank to have something 300 gallons or more. This is the space.

Wife really wants the basement done bad. The cool part about that is my tank is part of that project so I’ll working on that again. About time ; ) we are talking 3 trips this year the first one is done and the 2nd is a little over a week away. Once I have the last trip paid the work will start on the basement. At on point I would like to build a really big plywood tank down there as well.

Ripped up the basement a bit more. The biggest pain are one by ones they put on the ceiling to staple the cardboard ceiling they installed to.

Got rid of the shelves that are in the area where the bathroom is going to be expanded.
