Yeah I was thinking that too so I’ll test it.Just a thought as they both will help provide habitat for pods.
I would say the effect is minimal. The number of fish you can have will depend on territory and individual fish and if they decide to beat the crap out of each other and somewhat on filtration and while a larger sump can house bigger filtration... it is not really about the water it holds but what is in it (skimmer, fuge, reactors, etc), often sumps are only half full if a skimmer is used. That being said, fish tolerate nitrates.I also state it as total volume because I have read the larger total volume the more fish you can have.
Oh yeahLooks great!
About the same size as my tank.
I have no idea sorry.Oh yeah
How many kg of live rock and live sand did you/would you use in this size tank and my size refugium?
@i cant think any experience or opinions on these guys? How does a highfin perchlet or two (I know they are solitary but maybe this is enough room?) sound? The don’t get very big at all, look cool and won’t eat any gobies (I hope)
Apparently the rock work is also glued so I would need to break it off somehow because it is really ugly so I am looking for second opinions.Ok so I have contacted a few people to get a quote on a tank that size and while doing that I can a cross this 145x75x60cm which is actually decently bigger than 150x55x65 and it has a bigger sump that most people are willing to build at 120x50x33 the only downside, it is used and has a small scratchBut that small a scratch shouldn’t make too much of a difference especially seeing the price difference.
Thia tank is ≈ 170gallons for 360$USD so I am wondering if anything here would pose a problem? I got a quote for 150x55x65 for the same price but it would cost another 65$ for the sump upgrade and this just seems like a much better deal. The cabinet also seems a little scuffed.
Why not work around it with coral? Once corals grow in the rockscape is useless. There’s also some VERY nice pillar coral scapes.Apparently the rock work is also glued so I would need to break it off somehow because it is really ugly so I am looking for second opinions.
If I end up with this tank I would probably leave the aquascape and add live sand and in the end see what I want to do about the rock. Why not work around it with coral? Once corals grow in the rockscape is useless. There’s also some VERY nice pillar coral scapes.

The tank also comes with a light but I highly doubt it is sufficient for and aquarium this size. From the photos does it look sufficient? It is a 108w DIY light but if that looks good that would save a crap ton of money on lighting.
The amount of lighting to the eye is hard to tell, if you looked at my nano you wouldn’t think it was getting 700 to the Monti (4-500 to the rocks and 3-350 on the sand). If I end up with this tank I would probably leave the aquascape and add live sand and in the end see what I want to do about the rock.

Isn’t the wattage a good indication? I know the watt doesn’t really make sense because it is the amount of power used not the light emitted but I thought it gave a pretty decent estimate. The amount of lighting to the eye is hard to tell, if you looked at my nano you wouldn’t think it was getting 700 to the Monti (4-500 to the rocks and 3-350 on the sand).
Mines pushing 52W currently so I wouldn’t really say that’s a great indication, the way you setup your lights is different to the overall total power.Isn’t the wattage a good indication?
