The real concern is bats in your house. I would recommend an inspection by a licensed wildlife professional to inspect your home.
They can spread diseases the worst is rabbies.
As long as as it’s just bats in the house and not bats in the belfry. That would be a whole other situation methinks.

I kid you not, can't make this stuff up. Had a 2 bat fiasco in my house 4 days ago. Got the first one to fly out the front door but after hours of searching couldn't find the second.. until just now. It was floating in a back chamber of my 50 gal Waterbox AIO. Which means it died and decomposed for 4 entire days in my water. It smelled rancid but appeared to still be intact for the most part. Coincidentally I just setup a small UV sterilizer in that very same chamber earlier today. What do I even do? A huge water change? Do I need to worry about rabies virus in the water? Has anyone ever seen a clownfish with rabies??
All clownfish are rabid.

This is from the CDC… Jokes aside you should talk to your doctor about getting post exposure prophylaxis and/or see if your local department of health can test the bat for rabies.

“Bat bites can be very small so a person might not always know when they have been bitten by a bat. PEP should also be considered when direct contact between a person and a bat might have occurred, and a bite or scratch cannot be confidently ruled out. For example, if you wake up with a bat in your room, you may have been exposed to rabies and should see your doctor or call your health department, even if you don’t feel a bite. Healthcare providers will conduct a risk assessment to determine if you need rabies vaccination. If there is no clear explanation for how the bat got into your home, you may also need to consult a bat remediation specialist to determine if bats are living in your home.“

I couldn’t agree more. I had to get the rabies vaccine series 30ish years ago. Better safe than sorry. I’d get checked out if there was even a slight chance any of you got bitten.

If you have a Masonry Chimney, that’s where they probably came from. There’s probably a Nursery set up on the Back of the Damper. A Wildlife Service will be needed to get rid of them. We had the same problem, and a Spark Arrestor has been installed on the Chimneys. AKA, Iron Expanded Metal. BTW, the Rain Caps you see often with the Expanded Metal. They are against Codes, in my area, on Multiple Chimneys. This is due to the possibility, of a down draft in the neighboring cold Chimney. Single Chimneys, they are okay.
