At my LFS I kept seeing this chalice for the last couple of weeks and knew I had a spot for it in my tank. So with a coupon that just came out I could not resist any loger. I also think I got a reasonable price? Anyhow, now the help part. I run a barebottom with all SPS very low nitrates and phosphates. Will this coral thrive in this type of system? I only have a spot on the bottom of my 120 but do run 400w MH. Also can anyone give a quess as to what type of chalice this has similarities too? Thanks....

It looks nice Brian, I would say it should be fine in a low nutrient environment but the 400w lights may be too much, maybe not. Some chalices might do fine and others might not, if it looks like its fading or turning white you should move it under an overhang or off to the side. It will definately need to stay on the bottom. It looks like its a wild watermelon chalice, a very nice one. Looks a little like the Anastasia from ReefKoi. Good luck with it.

put it on the bottom and watch it. If the light is still to bright start to shadow it with the rock work. It will be fine in a low nuit tank. Its also a nice looking chalice. Is it the pot of gold chalice?
