I am still relatively new to reefing, only being at it for about 6 months now. About a month ago my LFS had a 7 head acan for sale for $5. The owner said it was in the wrong section, but sold it to me at the price regardless. It was kinda skinny when I got it, so I fed it every 3rd day and also used amino acids every other day when feeding. It started to get nice and fat. It’s still nice and fat, but I noticed last night that one of the heads I could see what I thought was the skeleton. This morning I put some aminio acids in and fed it once again. A few hours later when I got back, it was all nice and fluffy again, but every 10-30 mins one of the heads gets skinny to where I see what I think is the skeleton again, but 10 mins later it is fat. Is this normal or should I change something?

I wouldn't worry too much as long as the other polyps are doing well.

What fish do you have , I had a blue tang that loved picking at acans , took me weeks to work out what was going on
He would swim by and have one little nip and carry on swimming ....acan head would close up
Just something to think about :)

Currently I only have 2 clowns in the tank with the acan. I do have a favia next to the acan, so maybe I could move it away? Today I am getting a tomini tang and a orange spotted goby though.

Well it's not the fish than as I'm sure the clowns wouldn't nip it , unless they think it's a nem lol
Just have to keep an eye on it and see what happens
Here's a pic of my fav acan in my tank at the min :)

You may have my favorite acan I have ever seen. I am wanting my clowns to host my torch, so I taped pictures of other clowns hosting to my glass in hope they get the hint lol
