Hi reefers, can anyone tell me what's on my Acan ? Is it a pest or part of Acan itself? It was not there few weeks back and now slowly growing.

I’ve personally battled with them for years idk how I got them but obviously dips don’t kill them and must have missed one in QT the exploded in numbers in the return section of my sump mostly and I do have some in display I can’t say I ever had them kill coral but they are unsightly and string out these mucus webs that irritate coral and steal food bumble bee snails help control the numbers

Thanks, will remove it. I never seen this in my tank before. I dip every coral before introducing. And this Acan is in the tank since several months so not sure from when it arrived.

That’s a nice size one he’s been there before you got it. Again I’ve found dips to be ineffective with them

Bumblebee snails will eat them if you are looking for a biological control mechanism.

Read about Bumblebee snails as they are carnivores and once they food source is gone...they will prey on other snails and corals.
Better to cut and glue the pest. They arrive as cells in tank water from frags etc.

I’ve been using bumblebee snails to rid me infestation and so far so good. Except for the snails that make it onto the rocks….
