Add baby mandarin?

Want to start by saying I have kept a mandarin for 7years before and that I culture my own pods. Well i purchased a juvenile pair of mandarins and shortly after arrival the male passed away. He was stressed when he arrived and never recovered. I ordered a juvenile male from another source as I want a pair but this male is considerably smaller than the female. Is it safe to add this Male or will she hurt him? It's an 100gal with all peaceful fish with plenty if LR
