80lpm is a lot! How big is the tank?
It's 120gallons.

I agree 80lpm is probably overkill. I'm using a Hiblow HP-80 pond/septic aerator. I also use the pump for a couple of sponge filters in other tanks, and phyto/plankton reactors. Other things sometimes. I like to tinker.

I've found the pond aerator is pretty bulletproof. I've used a lot of air pumps, and they usually get a gasket tear after a year or so. This pond aerator has replaceable gaskets and is designed to run 24/7.

I use a 15LPM pump the same way you do. Mine is on a 25 gallon. So we are almost exactly the same level of overkill 😀
