Fish experts and especially those that have had success with copper banded butterflies: I'm getting a copper banded butterfly next week to at to my tank. My question is should i put it in an accimation box initially and for how long? my concern is if putting it in the relitivly small acclimation box will be more stressful than introducing it directly into the tank where there are lots of hinding places and available food to graze on? Obviously this is a sensitive fish, i'm trying to be prepared and give it as good a chance as possible.

hundred gallon approximately tank, lots of rock and coral, pods and unfortunatly aptasia.
large rabbit fish (rehoming soon, too big for this tank)
blue hippo tang
yellow tang
clown fish
3 or 4 pavo damsel
2-3 springer damsel

Agree that in this case it is best to introduce it to its new home. Keep an eye on aggression from the yellow tang. In my experience they haven't been welcoming to anything else moving into their territory.

Thanks, i'll keep an eye on it. Its not very big yet, biota so it was tiny when i got it, and hasn't shown any agression so far.

that isn't what i asked. I'm buying a quarinted fish.
I think @Lavey29 was referring to QT to get the fish eating offered foods from the water column before adding it to the DT.
Mine go into observation and will not be added to the DT untill I'm confident they will compete for food vs going into hiding and starving which happens quite often. Many people have luck adding them immediately but often it doesn't work out. Even fish that eat at the store may stop eating when added to a DT with other fish.

This was my observation QT. No white PVC .

The pair eating after being conditioned first. I want them swimming to the front of the tank in observation begging me for food before I move them out. There's no way I would toss a new CBB in with this crew without conditioning it first.

Exactly, adding a CB to an established tank with already large fish is almost guaranteed to end in death because the fish won't compete for food. You have to train these fish first in a QT not an acclimation box.

And 50 50 he eats aptasia. Mine didn't touch them.
