I think it is a mistake to think sps take up any more of most trace elements than other corals or even algae.

Fluoride and strontium may be the exceptions, which each primarily gets incorporated into depositing calcium carbonate of all sorts. I do not know if dosing either has value, however.

But elements such as iron, manganese, vanadium, iodine, etc., all get taken up by lots of different organisms.in my tank, macroalgae is almost certainly the biggest consumer of many trace elements.
I had a bad experiance with Cheato which I have talked about before. I used a HOB refugium if you will with its own little pump and light to see the effect of it. Which was after I unsuccessfully tried to keep it in my sump of my other tank. It just turned brown and died making a huge mess. Back to the topic after a while the the Cheeto was growing great but whatever it was extracting ( please inform me if its not the same as a Skimmer ) built up so much it started to backwash into the display and almost crashed it.

That being said I without intending to argue at all just need your knowledge or opinion . Am interested in pursuing the macro algae route. However have no idea of the benefits where to or how to keep it and how to deal with whatever the I think are the waste products it takes out of the water.

Lithium ? I had no idea . I guess just throw in a battery every so often . Seriously where does that originate from in a natural Ocean ?

Same as everything else, ultimately: dissolving rock on land and at sea.
