I noticed no one has started a thread for sharing AI Orbit 4 lighting schedules yet, so I thought I’d get the ball rolling!

If you own an Orbit 4, feel free to share your schedule—I'd love to see what others are using. It could be really helpful to have a collection of different setups in one place.

I'll post mine below to start things off!

This will be very helpful to those running the Orbit 4. I hope you get some feedback and input to share with others.

What the heck is orbit 4? This looks like mobius?

There are a few different things going on here.

Orbit 4, is AI's Gyre cross flow pump. Flow, not lighting which was mentioned above. There is also a smaller version, Orbit 2.

Mobius, that is Neptune's MXM (mobius expansion module), module that integrates or ties together EcoTech and AI products with the Apex controller.

Oh. Does Mobius work better with Neptune, because it is a hot mess by itself. I would love to dip into a Neptune but I would have to change out all my equipment to get any benefit. For now it's just the poor man's version with smart plugs and a prayer.

I cannot really comment if it works better with or without to be honest. I was part of the AI Orbit and Neptune testing so that was my first experience with both the MXM module and AI products.

I was running a pair of Orbit 4's and did not run into any challenges. I found that setting up the flow patterns to be easier in the Apex than using the Mobius app. This may be for two reasons. First is that I am not really one to use phone applications. Second I found the schedule settings within the app to be cumbersome. To be faire I am more comfortable with the Fusion panel so take my comment with a grain of salt.

I did not experience any Mobius disconnects or time sync issues. I did not have any random flow pattern changes. Updating firmware was easy to do with it. All in all it worked so I honestly had no complaints other than my personal preference of using Fusion.

With regards to a controller of any brand I think that really comes down to what one wants or needs and budget. I sort of stay out of those topics because, well, we all have different experiences with them. Sort of makes it difficult.

Not sure if I answered your question but long and short is that I didn't have any issues with Mobius but did find it cumbersome. I do not use phone apps though so may be my fault along with first time use.

I found it better since when using the Neptune MXM you don't have the time issues (I also use Radions). Also, I personally find the Neptune interface better than the AI / Ecotech app.

Ah ha. Yeah the time issue is so odd. I think I'll just milk along what I have until I get a new system. Then I'll upgrade. Hopefully in a few years neptune will be even more advanced.

You're totally right! I somehow made the mistake of using lighting schedule instead of flow schedule. My bad! But you're right, the Orbit 4 is a cross flow pump from Aquaillumination.

Currently have two nero 7s on my 72.3x 29.5x25.6 tank.

I'm running into the issue of arrow area having dead spots. While if i push the nero 7s above 50% The very middle front of my sandbed pushes away and im left with a bare bottom area in my tank.

I was thinking of placing the nero 7s on my back wall at lower speed 10-20% (at first while checking how orbits will change my flow) While running orbit 4's on opposite ends of each other? Would I run into the same sandbed issue with orbits? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Basically move the nero 7s back to where they are in this picture and having orbits towrads the top left and right side of the system blowing water towards the middle? Also I can't have too much turbulent flow on the top of my water due to my emergency drain. It causes water to be pushed down my emergency drain and cause a gurgling noise.

I'm debating on 2 orbit 4's than 2 more nero 7s due to orbit 4 being on sale right now. 255$ each.

This is very interesting. I've got an Apex controller and pair of Orbit 4's, but I've not yet got the MXM module. I did used to have a Vortec MP10 and the WXM module. Programming was pretty straightforward—pick the mode and max power level (%) for each point. Is it pretty much the same for MXM & the Orbits? Given the parent -child relationship they can have in Mobius—and I understand the concept doesn't exactly exist in Apex—I'm trying to envision how to replicate such a relationship in Apex.

I picked up two AI Orbit 4's for a four foot tank (its the IM SR80 Pro 2). It may be a bit overkill but I plan to work on the settings. Just getting started with rock & sand in this tank but I was thinking of running them independent of each other and setting random flow between 10% and 40% for both for some randomness. My goal is to eventually keep some SPS. I likely will keep them elevated as well. Display is ~47x16.5x16.5
