Hi all,

I own two AI Prime HD16, and I just recently got a Blue Coral Scope Flashlight from Polylab.

After testing the Flashlight I was super impressed with the deep blue spectrum LED and the way corals look under it, and I couldn't avoid to notice that the HD16 doesn't have that deep beautiful blue that brings that make the colors pop.

I tested each blue channel individually on HD16 and they were not even close to produce that impressive deep blue color.

My questions are:
1. Has anyone noticed that on the HD16?
2. What would be good light that has the same deep blue LED color for a reef tank?

Thanks in advance!

I believe you have to mix a few channels on the HD to get that deeper blue. Like the UV and one of the blues or something

You can reduce the white to give a more blue effect if you want.
I ran 2 on my nano 18" nano cube.
First 4 channels 100%. The rest 50%.
A blue bars would also be a plus.

Thanks I'm currently running 100% in all first 4 channels, no red, green, moon or white light. I have mainly Torches and Hammers I can't avoid to noticed the big difference, from the colors my coral show from the store to the my tank.

Just last week I bought a Hammer coral at my LFS and when I got home and put it in my tank the color difference was huge and no nearly as as pretty as they look under the deep blue Actinic lights. I'm I missing something.

Imo, you need the other channels. Try them at 50% and check color.
I got very good color from those settings. Here is my old frag system 36×24×12. As with my nano this tank had all the color needed.

Raise UV and Violet high, Royal blue mid, regular blue lower and it pops. Not sure if they're good values to grow under, but i was just messing with mine to see what looked "deeper blue" :) Might not be what you're looking for though!

*Edit - yea, not good for growing.

From what I found the "scope" is 420nm..
Some list it as "violet" not blue. Certainly not Royal blue.
The AI is not rich in that wavelength from what I can tell.
