Looking for some feedback..

A year ago I had 65 gallon 36 inch wide tank with 2 primes on it and it was great ! Hurricane IDA helped to destroy that tank but I did save the primes and a few other items. About 2 months ago I purchased a 60 cube 24x24x24 with a sump and I setup one of the primes for the DT and used one for the sump!fuge light. I believed that the one prime could run the DT if maxed for softies and lps , and according to BRStv it could. I however, DIDINT like the idea of running the light maxed and also felt that with just one prime it really wouldn’t get decent PAR to the sides and bottom. I heavily considered getting a hydra 32 and spending the $400 plus. As I considered this I thought why not just put both primes on the DT so I got another flex arm and mounted side by side.

I am not 100% sure if this is exactly the same power as a hydra 32 even though it seems that 2 16,s would equal one 32. And I am not super crazy about having 2 mounting arms and the way it looks. However for budget purposes it does definitely make a big difference in the look and removal of shadows in the tank.

I wanted to get any feedback on maybe if anyone else has done the same and or if anyone can coraborate or disagree that 2 16 ,s are the same as one hydra 32.

This is definitely a great question, I would like to believe it gives similar power but it’s definitely not coming from one source.

I’ve heard great things on Kessils for cubes such as these, but I have no experience only on AI.

I wouldn’t max out the lights, I did on a nuvo 20 and It just didn’t feel safe on the longevity of the light. And yes the lens melted

In my 20g nano cube I run 2 16hds. I run 3 on my 36x24x12 45g frag systsm. I run 1 on my 3g remote fuge which is plumbed into my 80g growout system. I also have 2 16hds on the 80g to supplement my xr15 blues.

The lens issue has been corrected on newer models. New replacement lens which I have are $4 each. I am replaceing one on a used unit I purchased that had a melted lens.

So on the nano, 45, and 80g I run these settings:
UV 140%
V 140%
RB 125%
B 125%
G 6%
R 6%
W 31%
The 16hds are the reason I replaced my halides on my old 120 and 45 frag systems.
They give better color and good growth on my systems.

My 20g nano cube is only 4 months old.

Spread the 16's apart some you will get better coverage. I would run 3 if it was my system.
The 16, 32, and 64 have the same pucks just more on 32-64.
