AI SOL Light Spread?

I am about to start on a new build. The tank is going to be 48" long, the width and depth are still undecided(custom build), but should be some where around 24" wide and 22" tall.

I would really like to go with the AI SOL units, but was wondering how many units it will take to give me the coverage?

I believe the coverage of the AIs are 24x24 per module. I would err on the conservative side and put in 3 modules for a nice and even spread. Or buy 2 to start and then evaluate whether you need a 3rd unit.

You'll definitely need 3 unless you can raise them super high. I have a 36" x 20" x 20 and had to raise about 14" just to get the spread I need with 2 fixtures.

I have one unit with all 70 degree optics over my 24" cube. It is hanging 11" off the water with perfect coverage. I am going to try and lower it a bit more to increase PAR. I have 90% SPS. I'm at 100% on all LEDs and I think I could use some more PAR. You could do it with two units but three would be better, IMO. Good luck!

Compared to our DIY recommendations I give them 18"

If you have them high enough, place your corals well and have softies 2 will be fine but for SPS and Clams four would be the equal to a pair of 250-400 watt MH.

BTW AI did it right in design and LED choice.
