Hey everyone, so my tank seems happy, but my alk stays between 10 and 10.5, so I was just wondering if I should try to bring it down a bit, or is this a good number? What do others here keep their ALK at?

Depends on what you are keeping.
7.9-8.5 is good for LPS and Softies
SPS can take 8.5 and higher.

Edit:
I have a mixed reef of 75% LPS and 25% SPS and my alk is 8.2-8.4

Good to know, and thank you! I am just dipping my toes into SPS. I currently have 2, and I gauge the happiness of my tank primarily on them. I look at everything of course, but my 2 little SPS are really my gauge, and they seem to be happy and growing. So, is 10.5 too high for the other stuff? Currently they all seem rather happy.

Yea this is where consistency is key. If you have an established water parameter with happy LPS already, i wouldnt change a thing. Though 10+ alk is on the higher side but its not an issue, i would acclimate any new corals from here on to get them up to the 10+ alk before dropping them in your tank - but thats just me.

Yeah, I always take my time when acclimating corals anyway. I take about an hour, introducing them with a bit more tank water every 15 minutes, then in the last 15 minutes, I dip them with Tropic Marin Coral clean. I can't imagine just temp acclimating and adding anything. Thank you for your help with this. I had just recently read an article that said 10 was in range, but too high. So I wanted to come here for real time input.

I target 8.5 in my SPS tank as well as my other tanks mostly because it leaves a cushion in either direction and my pH is lower than what many consider ideal so 8.5 seem to work for me. Im not interested in accelerated growth (I know weird right?) so I don't do anything to increase pH. I think the two go hand in hand but am not positive.

Not an issue as long as your nutrients are on the higher side. Most farms I know like to be in the range of 8dkh so you may have some issues with coral acclimation. However 10 is perfectly fine

My nitrates stay between 20 and 30 ppm, and my phosphate between .02 and .09
