I had flu and 2 pneumonia shots last year. I caught something that took 5 weeks to go away from my son just before Christmas. It took him 3 weeks to gt over it. I had to take antibiotics and steroids. it went into my lungs and locked them up.

I don't understand. Taking flu and pneumonia vaccines only protect against those diseases. If you had a different viral or bacterial disease it wasn't a failure of the flu or pneumonia vaccines!

First, there are up to 5 different strains each year in the flu vaccine and not one. Yes it's an educated guess as to which strains to put in it but they get it right more times than not which is pretty good considering how long before the actual flu season the decision has to be made.

Secondly, congratulations to you and your uncle but that hardly proves anything. Science clearly shows that flu vaccines save lives.

Thirdly, you are partially correct about the deaths associated with flu. Rarely do people die from the actual flu but complications such as pneumonia that would not happen without having the flu first.

Go get all the flu shots and gardasil you want but at least provide facts to back it up

Yeah, no. More misinformation downplaying what this could be. China would not, I mean NEVER, shut down entire cities over a simple flu virus. China simply doesn't care about human life. Think it through, use some actual brain power and connect ALL the dots!

I think we’re still watching this play out. I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. There’s still so much we don’t know. My friend is at home with the flu. He was supposed to come up and snowboard with me. His wife and kid came up. He’s a doctor at a hospital in the Bay Area. If he was concerned, I’m sure he’d tell me. I’m not concerned at this point. It’s real news. The market is going to take a hit. It’s China.

IMO it’s too early for folks to start expressing any kind of certainty about something that we don’t know much about. Exacerbating a strangers paranoia doesn’t do anything positive. We’ll be fine or we won’t. It will be closer to home for some. Humanity will just keep grinding away.

I read that as the poster saying getting the flu or pneumonia vaccines may not prevent you from either, which is 100% fact. It may up you odds, or it may hurt them. It's up to you to make the choice, but not to listen to propaganda, from both sides.

Agree. What happens, happens. Unless you have a hidden bunker and can be in it 24/7/365 till this plays out, not much can be done besides full hazmat suits and decontamination showers when you come home.

That's more fake news. Flu shots work for last year's flu strain, as in one of them, and more than likely NOT what is going around. The flu shot doesn't protect against pneumonia, which is usually what hatms people after getting the flu. Usually there are multiple strains of flu each year, flu shot works against a best guess of 1 of the previous year's flu. My uncle got the flu shot 1 time in his life, became hospitalized. He recovered and never had the flu shot again, never had the flu again. I've never had the flu shot, have not had the flu for 30 years, 3rd grade was the last time.

This post is subjective. Science doesn’t roll with it. There’s a reason why doctors have to get regular flu shots.

There's also a reason doctors push all sorts of unnecessary stuff, kickbacks! Which they do get. Doctors and nurses have to get flu shots to possibly protect their patients, not that it DOES protect anyone. They are in direct contact with way more sick people than anyone else. Just like science determined pumping animals full of antibiotics was actually counterproductive.

Flu shots can be as effective as 60% in a lot of years. That data is readily available on the CDC web site. Are you saying that a vaccine that prevents 60% of the cases of flu in people that get it does not save lives?

All I can do is shoulder shrug. Science isn’t a conspiracy. My doctor buddy suggests the flu vaccination for everybody. He doesn’t stand to gain anything by telling me that. I’m 42. I rarely get sick. I haven’t had a flu vaccine ever. Every couple years I get sacked with the flu. I’m equipped to handle it. Not everyone is. Do your thing. Vaccinations are part of the reason why we live longer and better lives now than in the past.

Funny story. My wife and my oldest son got flu shots. My youngest boy and I didn’t. My youngest and I got the flu and my wife and oldest didn’t. I guess they got lucky there.
