An issue with my Space Invader

I noticed a bunch of sand on top of my space invader. When I carefully cleaned it off, sadly it exposed the skeleton. I’m super concerned this could cause an RTN or STN situation or bacterial condition. I removed it from the display and put it in my sump that only get ambient light. I can get a light over it tomorrow night. Any thoughts on what I should do? I noticed another area that appears to have “scabbed” over. Maybe this happened before and I didn’t notice. I’m having an issue with a yellow jaw dropping sand on everything. I’m not sure how I may try to get him out. But I think I am going to have to attempt it. Thoughts?

As long as the coral doesn’t get an infection, I think it’ll be okay. You can use an iodine based coral dip if you are concerned about that, as a precaution. As far as the fish, that’s something you’ll have to decide on if you want to keep it or not.

If/when the coral heals up, you can put it back in the tank if you want, but dust it off occasionally with a pipette or turkey baster if it keeps getting covered. If needed as a last resort, you can always frag a healthy branch off and start again. I just snap them off by hand and glue to a frag plug.

Space invader heals quickly in my experience. Just make sure it doesn't start getting worse . If it does, pull and dip if possible. Or cut away infected area.
