Started to unpack some equipment and got it into place:
Bubble King 200
Sicce Syncra SDC 9.0 WiFi return pump
Tunze Osmolator ATO
BRS heaters 1x300 and 1x600 Watt
APEX controller

Drilled holes in the electrical cabinet for all the wires and power cords. Still need to get some grommets for the holes. This is not part of the Waterbox cabinet/stand but a seperate unit

Started slowly to install some controllers. In the end almost no wires/cables should be visible.

Yep. Everything was going to smooth and something needed to happen.
This morning the tubing came of the return pump and produced a nice fountain
:)

We had a clamp pretty tight around the tubing or at least we thought. Added a 2nd clamp and both should be very tight now.
Considering hard plumbing the return.
Questions:
So to do that I would need a 45, straight pipe and another 45 down to the pump?
To get it apart for cleaning I would need to add a Union?

Had so many light options in my mind.
Would have liked the ATI 60" Powermodule but they won't be available in the US for quite some time.
Could have gotten the ATI Sunpower but attaching LED strips on the side wasn't one of my favorite things either.
Ended up with the newer AquaticLife X18 Hybrid with 4 ATI T5's and added 3 Kessil 360X for now.

Fixture will be lowered once all the aquascaping will be done.

Very nice start! Dream build that I want in my next house.

I quite like your aquascaping actually. Lots of passthroughs and caves, but you can see into almost every one of them from some angle. Looks like you also did a good job keeping them away from the glass for cleaning purposes later.

Also very nice idea on the equipment cabinet. I might borrow that concept next time I have a build.

I like to have things organized but at some point there are just to many cables and frustrating sets in... Oh well. For now it should do it and will try to get it better later.
One good thing is I found at HD those so cable cuffs. So much better as using zipties. They work like handcuffs. Push them together until the cords are nicely pushed together and they have a release button for easy taking them apart.

Added rocks and substrate.
To get a good hold for the rock work I used the Tunze Coral gum. Little pricy but best product I ever used. No coloring, odor free and the skimmer doesn't freak out. Only thing is it cures within a minute so you have to be quick.
For substrate I used CaribSea Aragonite Special Grade. Think this has the best grain size for a higher flow tank and still looks good.

Had no choice to put another powerhead on the other side of the tank being 6' long and planning on running a high flow tank.
Picked a Tunze 6105 and that thing puts out some serious flow. Totally happy with it.
Started up also the Bubble King and with even not much to skim he produced some thick foam after running only 20 minutes.

Started playing around a bit with the Tunze and Apex.
I have 2 x Stream 3 vertical placed and hidden next to the overflow and 2 x 6105 on the other side.
I have several flow patterns during the day and still tweaking on it but like this one a lot so far:

Stream 3:
Synchronize: Enable
Divide by 10 : Enable
Initial Off Time: 0
On Time: 7
Off Time: 4
Minimum Intensity %: 40
Maximum Intensity %: 60

6105:
Synchronize : Enable
Divide by 10 : Disable
Initial Off Time: 0
On Time: 4
Off Time: 3
Minimum Intensity % : 0
Maximum Intensity %: 50

This is the result so far:

Tank is doing great.
Added a GHL doser and dosing ATI Pro essentials
Trident for measurements

Did some PAR measurements today.

  • Powerheads were running
  • Fixture is about 10" above the water level
  • 4 x T5's ON
  • 3 Kessil A360X at 55% intensity, 100% blue, 0% red and green

Close up of the rocks:

Full shot to show how deep the rocks are below the tank height (height is 24")
