I think clowns / anemone are my favorite thing about reef keeping. I love the symbiotic relationship. They used to love BTAs but after adding an LTA it seems they spend 99% of time in it

I have the watermelon anemones that don't get real big but they reproduce sufficiently in my tank. (I have around 6 of them, just started with one around 2 years ago.) I have 3 clown fish and each clown fish now lives on its own anemone. At times they travel back and forth to check out the occupied anemones. But for the most part they stick to each their own. Then they get all irritated when the anemones close at night.

But the clown fish stay loyal, even if the anemones don't.

Why? As long as you have the right conditions they are very hardy animals.

I have terrible visions of one eating my tiny pink streaked wrasse and then taking a trip through my corals, stinging all the way. I guess mostly a fear of anemone aggression keeps me from adding one to my tank. But I'm sure it's like so many things in this hobby, it's a lack of knowledge that's the big problem!

I've had clowns in the past, and I love them. Good, hardy fish that are fun to watch. Mine hosted in my huge Xenia colony and would let you hand feed then. Once my 150 gallon is up and running, I will have clowns again. Until then, I have just an 18gal cube with a Wheeler Goby/Tiger Shrimp

One of the main reasons I wanted a reef tank was pair of clowns and an anemone, but had 5 years researching before actually started tank up and read "best " to wait to add until tank is more established/stable and they can move around tank and sting/kill corals so kinda put me off them a little.
So then time come to set up tank so when broke up my Rocks and glued/mortared them together I made a ledge dedicated to where I would of placed the anemone and " hoped" that it stayed there but then went off the idea altogether of getting the clowns and anemone, as read clowns biting owners often and anemones established tank needed and can walk around tank.but 4 year old daughter still wanted nemo and her dad in the nem ( had to explain in film finding nemo, the mum got ate and that's why nemo and his dad and ours would be mum and dad so cant have nemo so marlin and coral is names ours have got.
Tank is I think 15-16 months old and still no anemone ,my nitrates and p04 are stable but high stable ha ha at 40 ppm nitrates and 0.25 p04 and read anemones like little lower parameters ( seen some have success at higher )but kid still often asks when are we adding marlin and corals home ha ha .

So the 2 clownfish we hardly ever see as at back off tank next to central internal overflow through the day and top right corner at night.so only really see them at feeding times but daughter wanted them so was first 2 fish in the tank and not bitten me yet but if get tweezers and try pick up some empty clam shells they always go for me,but I feed my cbb clams with the tweezers and they come and grab clam from the tweezers so they may e just thinking tweezers in tank =food or maybe they the devils spawn and want to bite my finger off as I'm going near their corner idk ha ha

So maybe if my nitrates/p04 get lower I may try an anemone or maybe of research again and if remind myself high parameters can still have success then may pull the trigger ^_^

This gal bounces between a BTA & a Featherduster. Her mate could care less about the FD.

I have two midnight clownfish hosting a purple long tentacle anemone. It's definitely awesome to see the clowns diving in and out of the anemone. Even if hosting seems to make them far more aggressive haha.
