Why do you need the foam?
When my nems split, I put them in one of those glass cups. I put a piece of foam in the opening (don't be fooled, they climb right out) and the nem loves hanging onto the foam. It must be something about the surface texture.

Oh wow, what a great idea. If I ever have to move my 18 inch Mag off his rock, I'll think of this with a big ole sewer pipe! Haha! I wonder if this will work with a LTA or a Sebae? Still, much better than trying to peel him off the rock, glass, overflow, etc!

Ice inside plastic bag against foot, they will let go

The whole ice floats thing can make that method a real pain in the rear. In the past I've just hung them over a bucket, which with a bit of patience always worked for me. But I've been using the PVC tube method recently and I think it's gentlest method possible to move/remove a bta. The rubber bands and foam solves a lot issues.

Great Idea. I have two Nem's and they are behaving for now.

Maybe this will work for Aptasia. Just a smaller Version (vial/tube/pipe instead of Cup).

I only have a few, and they are Huge.
I do zap them but that can get them to Spore and multiply.
Recently I put putty all over the Big ones, and they somehow appeared on top of the putty.

This might work!! Do the putting/Glue thing, but give them a tube to come out of. Then when they are at the top, remove the tube.

Thanks.

So what is to say they don't keep their foot attached and just stretched out of the tube ? I have a few nems im trying to get out of my rock work and i tried a "Y" tube for the same principal and all they did was stretch out of the tube for light ? i need something they will for sure attach to and be able to pull them out . impossible to remove the rock they are on without taking down most rock scape

If it can stretch the length of the tube, then you just need a longer tube. That it is stretching shows proof of concept.

Just wanted to show off my anemone removal invention.

All you need is a piece of foam, a plastic cup and two long rubber bands. Cut a hole in the foam, cut off the bottom of the cup and make holes for the rubber bands.

Then, simply annoy the anemone until it closes up enough to put the foam over it. Finally, place the cup over the foam and use the rubber bands to hold it in place. The anemone will just walk out...

Before - foot in a deep crevice

Your mileage may vary, but they can only stretch so far. I think that the smallish hole in the sponge constricts them and makes them uncomfortable in that position.
