While looking at my tank this evening I noticed some tentacles waving out of a rock crevice. It looks like an anemone to me, but I would appreciate other eyes on it and any thoughts folks have on what kind of anemone it might be. Thanks!

I won't be much help but I hope someone else can help you

Florida live rock? Could maybe be a light bulb anemone if so, otherwise I think aiptasia is a reasonable bet.

Oh, thanks for the reminder. I meant to add some details about the rock. Most of the rock in the tank is Marco with a bit of live rock from TBS. Most of that is in the sump. I looked in there and didn't see any obvious nems, but it's pretty overgrown with algae, so I may have missed some. I would think aiptasia would be pretty obvious in the sump if they were there, though. And that would be a really big aiptasia, no? Any tips on what to do with the light bulb?

Aiptasia can get to be at least a couple inches around, and there are some that have that kind of striping even though some are basically clear. If it was only maricultured live rock, I doubt it would be aiptasia, but if there's any small piece of aquarium cured or seasoned live rock, aiptasia is a top candidate.

Keep removal simple: Using a syringe or pipette, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away
