When they're shredded, do they die or just look bad?
Two died when I tried scraping. Two let go as I was able to pry them off and get them into a predator tank. Before the thread, I had already given 8 away that were attached to the back glass. After starting with just one anemone, I only have 8 more to get rid of. (That was 20 if you were counting!) They are embedded so deep into rock with holes in it, that I just don't have any other ideas. I'm in a holding pattern until one pops up somewhere else, but they don't seem to be moving. If I completely disassemble, how long does the hanging over water thing take?

I've never done Condys but I've found that hanging out of water while prying at the foot is pretty quick. They seem much more willing to give when they are out o the water.

I really don't want to, but I may just have to bite the bullet and tear down all of my rock and do the water hanging trick. I just hate to lose the cap montis that have wrapped around everything. Of course, they do grow quickly....... How long will my corals do ok without water while they are just hangin' out?

That's what I experienced. I have lost several corals to the dipping over fresh water trick. I waited an hour, and that was too much for my acans. Gone. DEAD. But NOT the anemones. They never dropped off.

Well if the coral on that rock are dead, just take a hammer and chisel to the rock and break up the rock and get rid of the anemones. Yeah an hour is a long time for a coral to be out of the water.

Per the original post, I was able to get the largest 2 RBA's off my rock today. I removed a massive fused arch that they were stuck on and held it upside down over a bucket. I tried ice, but that didn't work. I just waited maybe 10 minutes and gravity took effect. They drooped super long. I used my nail and got the feet up just a bit, then took feeding tongs and basically pried the anemone off from under the portion of foot I had pulled loose.

The two small ones sucked completely into the rock, so I gave up.

The sad news is that a beautiful acan is really banged up and 2 frags of nice cyphastrea are dead. Stupid anemones.

Yeah, I tried the hanging in the water thing and lost two BEAUTIFUL Cyphastrea. One that was rose colored and one neon green one. I am definitely ready to commit 'anemocide'!
