Hi my name is Chance and I live in Oklahoma City. I'm completely new to the hobby, but have been studying up for over two years now - mostly reading forums and articles on the internet, but I also bought a few books as well. I actually don't own any coral yet, I just purchased my first tank in November (60g true cube), and have recently finished cycling it and my first fish is in quarantine (tank transfer method followed by some of the gentler prophylactic treatment options and a month of observation). I'm planning a LPS dominated peaceful/community reef. I'm pretty risk averse though, so I don't plan to add any invertebrates until I can set up a coral and invertebrate quarantine tank.

I decided to join R2R because the civility of discourse on this site seems superior to some of the alternatives. The community seems more newbie friendly. I'm hoping that's the case anyway. There's still a lot I don't know and i'm hoping people will be patient when I ask a question someone has invariably answered a hundred times (when for some reason I can't find it with the search function).

Anyway, I look forward to learning the ropes with all of you!

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Keep us posted on the progress! :)

Welcome aboard, Chance!

Glad you chose to settle here - it's really become my home-on-the-net for all things reef-related. Sounds as though you've done the homework and the prep you need, but _everybody_ has questions - and in this place, I've found the people who really want you to have the answers that'll work for you and your tank. I hope you do too . . .

~Bruce (Who's also kinda curious what you chose for your first fish!)

I chose a purple firefish. She doesn't like me very much right now - hides in the PVC fittings every time I enter the room. Such a pretty fish though, I hope some day she'll be comfortable enough to let me look at her up close. :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Welcome to R2R!

Welcome to R2R, you've come to the right place. Lots of really nice people here with tons of knowledge, don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

Welcome to R2R! We grow helping each other here. I don't believe you'll find anyone here that thinks they know it all.
Looking forward to hearing more about your system.
