The tank has been set up for 5 months and has suddenly gone green and not sure of what the problem is, have been doing regular water changes and keeping up with tank maintenance

I think step one would be to do like an 85% water change. Did something die? I’ve never seen something like this happen overnight. Commenting so I can come back to it!

Could it be an algal bloom? Either way i would do quite a few water changes and definitely run the skimmer

Obviously after that, you’ll want to check things like nitrate, salinity, phosphate, and stuff like that. But this is pretty much an emergency. You need to do a large water change immediately.

Turn off the light for now maybe think of what you have done lately and go from there . It has helped me in the past . I know a marineland water clarifier will fix it. You can take it out after . I uses a high micron filter ( low Number )

Run some carbon.

Did you make any changes to your tank recently?

I don't want to start an argument but I don't consider this an emergency Post again and Use # reef squad let the experience talk . Water changes to me are a waste of time since you only remove a small percentage of any imbalance which was pointed out in another post and makes a ton of sense to me . Again just me but I shy away from chemical warfare if that comes up
