Hello everyone... I am starting this thread because of my friend... @CanuckReefer .

Art is something that is entirely dependent on the individual perspective. Our reef tanks are all individual and built on our own unique perspective on what we like. I suppose on a certain level we are ALL artists here, with our medium being that of water, rocks, and life.

One of my individual passions has been painting. That said, I have no real "artistic" ability to speak of. I am a very linear thinker, science, math, physics ect ect all make perfect sense to me. Music, visual art, designing, and other creative forms elude me completely.

For many years, I have watched "The Joy Of Painting" television series. I always thought that Bob Ross created a series that was meant for people like me! Teaching simple techniques that anyone can duplicate.

So with that said, here are some examples of my own artwork using a 2d medium...

When I was actively doing this I didn't consider it art. My opinion on that changed though.
I used a camera to freeze a scene, perspective, place and moment so it could be experienced by others.
You control what part of that is transmitted to the viewer in a forceful way by limiting what they do and dont see.

Most definitely an art form my friend.. Much thanks for sharing your work

My artistic skills are -1 but I do get to enjoy my daughters work. She will be a sophomore in HS this year. She does most of her artist work when in school instead of doing homework or listening to the teacher!!!! I've asked her to draw something besides anime but she won't do it.

Here is some stuff she does on her ipad.

OH! I also got to include my love for marine life on the Derwent Inktense (water soluble ink) packaging I did for Derwent. I have another tin I painted for them with a sea turtle but I can't find the photos atm.

I’ve done a little bit of oil painting following in Bob Ross’ s footsteps. Watched him every weekend for many many years.
My favorite one is “StormWatch”. The one with the cat looking out the window.
