I have used my old savage bolt action in 30:06 for every animal killed except my Cougar. Used a 30/30 for it. My new guns tend to be ornaments or plinking guns but I seldom buy new guns anymore.
We drew antelope tags for Wyoming but did not get drawn mulies. Had a point too but no draw. Our area is almost all private so usually 1 point gets the tag.
Congrats on getting tags. Fall is coming fast.
Jim
We put in for Antelope knowing its a pipe dream lol GL!!

congratz on the tags. What do you cowboys use for elk

I used a savage 6.5 creedmore on my elk hunt a few years back, I didn’t get an elk though . when I got it and sighted it in it was great, but the scope rail mounted on the reciever loosened up sometime between shooting targets and my hunt and I missed my shot, it would have been awesome to get it, it would have been my first elk.

Hunted javelinas in AZ in the 90's with a handgun for almost 10 years straight until friend moved.
Upland game is my favorite.
Still deer hunt for meat.
Lots of guns.
My favorite long gun is my pre 64 Winchester 300wm.
Mcmillian stock, jewell trigger, carbon fiber barrel, 3.5x10 lighted Mark 4 scope.

It’s a good round, basically just a necked down .308, so your getting a flatter trajectory and less wind drift at long ranges. Is it a .308 killer, imo no, at typical hunting ranges they both will do the job with good shot placement and bullet choice.

I bought mine as a dual purpose target/ hunting rifle. It’s not a lightweight at all.

It’s a savage 110 desert tactical. I painted the stock camo. It’s a good affordable rifle.

City I live in has an over population of white tail deer - mostly due to the decline of hunters and urban sprawl. They wander through suburban yards in plan daylight eating potted plants and generally being a nuisance. Walking venison I say. In the fall larger bucks wont back down from dogs if they have antlers.

Bambi defenders would change their tune if they ever had venison salami.

Javelinas make the best tamales!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I know there are larger magnum revolvers than the 44 mag today. But it is hard to beat the classic blued Model 29!

Did someone say Ruger? I had it built in 1981 when I shot long distance. Ruger #1 7mm mag with a 30" Adkinson match barrel and a 12 power Leupold scope. It doesn't quite shoot 10 shot 1/4" groups anymore, and I feel guilty shooting hill country deer with it now, but I am too old to look for them or chase them down. 1. Ruger #1 7mm mag
I know what your saying, my first purchase was a Weatherby 7mm Rem mag. Too much gun for a guy with buck fever  I slowed it down to the 7-08. BTW since I started using Federal Fusion I would trust it again.
