I don't care so much about testing, but SaaS is part of why my ReefBot has sat gather dust for over a year.

I would have applauded an API direct to the "collective" bypassing their SaaS, even if it mean buying an "Hydros {insert dumb name" API controller"

The end user would simply register a cloudflared tunnel or port forward to the device if their consumer is off LAN. "But bean that's complicated" is moot, because that task is moot for anybody able to build a tool to consume their REST API to begin with.
Sorry, I'm trying to make Reef Bots great again 🤣 It is slow working it solo and with RL getting in the way constantly. I have so many "to-dos" I bounce around. Need to force myself to finish capturing the remaining tests (can get each in ~1-2 minutes now, bot reboot/cloud reconnect takes the longest). After that is just color interpretation and UI finish/polish.

I have a Hydros Wave engine, so haven't messed to much with the API other than getting it to work in HA. Curious to know what controller is inside the ecosystem, if they are esp32's that would make efforts more plausible I believe.

Yes, sorry I have not been much help over the last year. I have also been buried in work and unfinished projects.

I don't know anything about Hydros and I am not a fan of the company behind it or the hard cloud tie. It may be a bit harder to pry away from the cloud given that it requires comms between each device and that likely means rolling your own protocol.

At this point, the thread should be renamed to Maven Schmaven as this thing will never come out.

You guys who go to the trade shows where coralvue has a presence, do they even still have it out with all their other products? If they do, there may still be hope…
I think I could re name it? 🤔

I was so excited for this thing and now… not so much.

No problem brother, I have been squirreling on multiple tasks too. I have a couple more on deck I am forcing myself to not start until I can get some of this other stuff done. I even thought about starting to design my own tester from what I have learned RE'ing the bot, but shelved that for now as it would be a huge step back. Once I can make the ReefBot a FreeBot, then I'll probably tinker and try to design something as an open source tester.

Automated testing to me is a waste of time as it is now. I would think it be great soon as it advances. The only thing you need automated is Alkalinity. I use KH Carer and love it.

Have KH Guardian, Aquawiz, and Apex on three different systems. All work good. The apex has been super close to my Hanna checkers. Also I use the ATI standard solution to make sure the Hanna is ready correctly. And it’s almost dead on! .1 diff in Alk which can be margin of error super easily. The apex is .1 between Hanna. And has been tracking well for me.

I wouldn’t have it any other way! Love it all and makes my life much easier.

But in the realm of Marvin and when he will be coming out to play, I say we will have GTA 6 before Marvin comes out!
