Any updates on the Maven?

You make it sound like it was an accident and they learned a lesson. It was a gamble to erode competitor sales and race to market with their alternative that was not yet designed or engineered. They may have learned a lesson, but given the two years of gaslighting, it sure doesn't feel like they did.

The impatience for a product that no one has paid for is something else entirely. No one has lost anything on this product so it all seems a bit dramatic to me.

People did invest in the platform based on the Maven announcement and are now left without it. Others have held off investing in platform and now feel betrayed by the delays and gaslighting. That may not matter to you, but it does to them.

For others, these discussions provide insight before investing. It may not change your view, but the timeline, communication, and business practices do matter to others and their own decisions.

Investing in a lineup solely for a non existent product is a gamble in itself. I also dont count income until a check clears the bank. It seems some have taken a business decision extremely personally and that baffles me a bit. Betrayal is a strong word for this situation but thats a personal matter. They are taking a while to work out their new auto feeder too, this resulted in me getting the plank. No meltdown, no regret purchasing an x10 or the pile of other gear I have. It all still functions and serves the purpose I got them for. If they can be expanded on in the future, great. If not, Ill work out an alternative. Im in this hobby because I love the animals and habitat, the gear is a tool, nothing more and tools are replaceable the time wasted on this topic is not.

Implied is a key word here. Products werent available for sale. This is like investing all in on a brand over a concept. Its a risk.

Us? You clearly stated you dont use these products and likely never will. By all means continue your campaign to curb business away from coral vue if its worth so much of your time to you.

I just found the situation a bit comical and think people should relax. Your money or a lack thereof will speak louder than your emotionally charged words ever will to a business.

IMO the only think that really needs automated testing is alk.

Automation is nice to have, not necessary by any means. Alkalinity can be done in a few short minutes if that. Nothing most already don't know.

If we ignore the noise of those disappointed and false rage the debate is around the vendor playing the empathy card when they brought this on themselves. They caused this, not the hobbyist.

The hobbyist in waiting and rage quitting though, that is another story and need to let go in my opinion.

That is a stretch. The product was officially announced and shown in a way that the suggested that the product was working availability was a formality. That’s not the same as investing in a concept.

I can understand why some customers would be frustrated or actually feel they were manipulated. You may not share that view, but that does not mean it is invalid.

The word "us" was clearly used in the context of participating in this hobby. My use of the product is irrelevant. This isn’t a campaign on my part, it’s a discussion in a public thread.

My whole complaint lays on the fact I purchased hydros over Apex for the Maven. There was youtube videos of it at reefapalooza along with release dates that never happened. If i was looking today my entire system would be apex and id be done.
The comparison to apple is hilarious. Apple doesn’t announce products ahead of time. They have a launch day and then 2 days later you can buy the product…. Terrible comparison lol
I wasnt at reefapalooza to see the maven in person but now i have to question if it was anything more than a box with Leds in it. My gut say no…
Think of how much money they have lost to people because of this… I know personally I wont purchase anything for CV ever again

For the price it looks flimsy and tossed together. The app / web interface also looked to be Chinese English, it reviews really well and users seem to be happy but for the price I want more of a polished product.

Let me chime in. What good automatic tester is out there right now that you trust? Maybe the only one is Kamoer Reef Master Spa. I understand people's frustration. However, look at GHL they released ION Director and it wasn't ready. I think though they fixed a lot of issues with it now still mixed reviews on it though I think. Also, the price tag on the Maven will be close to $2000 dollars just putting that out. I don't think any of these automatic testers work well except the Kh Carer or similar for Alk.

With auto testers you still will have to test manually to make sure the results are inline. Why bother if thats the case? I really don't get it. I understand with Alkalinity ones for sure.

Lets say maven comes out it and you do a test. You're most likely going to test results with a manual test. Most likely at least a couple times a month. I had the Focustronic Mastertronic and what a waste that was. You have to ask what you want to achieve?

I have Hydros on one tank and other tank GHL. I love my GHL over Hydros. I was going to get Ion director but was hesitant on the reviews and cost involved. Jury still out on Ion director. I have the Kh Carer and love it. I did have Kh Director by GHL but it leaked occasionally.

This is not the point. The point is what they did and are doing. Doesn't matter if it is trustworthy or not. That is not why people are upset. This is just an excuse.

I did. That was the deciding factor. My thought is it will probably hang with the Trident in terms of accuracy. I dont need it to be flawless ill still test manually. When im looking for an all in one eco system that was my deciding factor.
Thankfully im in a situation that this doesnt ruin my reef experience or my introduction to reef automation. Some people however might not be as lucky and at the price of some of this stuff they may just be stuck. Thats why it matters.

Ill add here as well if they would have just came out and said hey everyone we never should have announced this thing. We ran into some issues that were way more complex than we can have dreamed so for the time being the Maven is unannounced. Id be 100% ok with that im not into burning people for making a mistake we are humans and its part of life. Its the silence and refusing to just admit it that bothers me. I did see today that they talked about it 5 days ago in a video saying cross contamination is the issue they ran into and dont have it figured out. and that's fine make a solo video for that not a video where the word Maven is never mentioned once in the title or the summary so its basically hidden.

This right here for me. Why announce it? Thats about as simple as it gets. And let’s not complicate it because we know companies do this to draw people in to purchase other things related to what is going to be releases. Works in the retail electronic world long enough to understand how announcements work. Get the hype going and many will purchase hydros just for the idea on what can and possibly might be. Then fails to deliver. Not good business practice. I will say Ray the Trident system sure is working just fine for me. It works for basic number of steady parameters. F I need fine tune I just do a icp test, or use my Hanna if needed from time to time.

Not about hydros having bad products that are on the market already, but rather shady business practice.
