Any updates on the Maven?

I asked flat out in a livestream if the demo unit was working. I was told yes, but I haven't ever seen the demo unit preform a test. I'm not saying they are lying, but...

Regardless, I am not in any hurry to spend 1k on an auto tester lol. Let them bring it to market when it is ready... or not. I bought my Hydros stuff before the Maven was announced because I think it is a superior product/UI compared to the Apex.
I can agree with that! I wish apex came to the 21st century and updated their UI. I was fully ready to switch to hydros when the maven came out. But at this point it’s frustrating more than anything.

I went all in with Hydros because of the Maven. I've got an X10, Blenny, wave controllers, etc and i bought all of it because of the Maven coming out. I haven't used Apex at all but I thought well i can live without the testing until it comes out so ill go the hydros route. Now I'm somewhat regretting it. The software isn't bad but they badly need an HMI to show all the values in a better layout.

I've been in oilfield automation for 26 years and my original plan was to just grab a PLC and design the whole thing myself but i went this route simply due to time. I'm honestly thinking about going back to my original idea and using a Trident for testing and then using a Red Lion HMI mounted in my stand door to display everything and then writing my own alarming system. Its not hard just alot of code to write which over the last 26 years I've written most of it already at one point or another.

I might have more faith in them if they would just come out with a simple announcement about where they are with it. I had to contact Coral Vue support about a different product and it didn't give me much faith that I'm going to get much help on anything from them. Granted I wont base my whole life judgement about them on that one experience ill wait for another contact before i write them off.

Its sad because they have a good product it just seems like their development team has fallen off. This might be the furthest from the truth and they just aren't releasing anything but in my experience in everything when a company goes silent its not a good thing.

They provided an update recently on the back end of the duet release video.

They arent silent. Just tired of people tripping 😂. I talked to them about my system and gear and asked in passing. They are sick of peoples melt downs. Imagine trying to innovate and work out bugs while hundreds of people complain and whine about you not going fast enough. Its coming. Patience is a virtue. The hobby existed and we have been doing this for decades without a Maven, we can wait a bit longer for them to get it right. Imagine the fallout if it failed at launch? They are avoiding that by addressing issues now.

I think people are mostly upset because they announced it ages ago...even took pre-orders. Was deceptive marketting timed to try and prevent people swapping over to Neptune Systems when they released their Phosphate and Nitrate tester.
I have neither so dont really care, but I can understand the upset - my opinion is that these auto testers are all unicorns...😄

Which is a terrible business model....

Give it a try and see how much tolerance you have for it. 😂

The only thing they are a victim of is their own poor marketing decisions and two years of gaslighting of their customers.

Their motive isn't altruistic or born of devotion to innovation. Their overarching motive is profit, which is fine, but their behavior is questionable. They announced a product that they hadn't developed yet so that they could preempt sales of competitors testers being released.

One of their competitors (Neptune) produces an auto tester. That competitor sells branded reagent. CV has partnered with a third party (ABC Reagents) to produce non-OEM reagents and sell them for less than the competitor's OEM reagents. At the same time, they have announced that they are going to DRM the reagents for their Maven to prevent people from using third-party reagents.

I don't care one way or the other, as I am not a customer and likely never will be, party because of they way they do business.

From where I sit, they can save the crocodile tears.

Surprise surprise a business has set out to make money! They must be the devil!🤣
By all means make your own and donate them for free to every hobbyist that wants one. Must be nice to have such resources, unless this was simply an empty sentiment to bash a product you dont use. 😂

Not sure you even read Bean’s reply and if you did, do so again until you understand what he actually said

Didn’t sum it up at all but sure sums up your posts nicely

Maybe one doesn't know what the Crocodile tears phrase emphasizes....
🙄 please.
I have innovated products myself and dealt with the same psychotic behavior from consumers. It gets old, truly. I simply get where they are coming from. 😂 Im out. This thread is ridiculous.

Sorry to say it but its never good when people apologize for a company. In the 2010's we all lived and died BRS because we thought it was a company for the hobbyist by the hobbyist. The owners sold it, left it, started a youtube channel with the money. Now its just a huge marketing site.

Anyone considered the Focustronic Mastertronic Essential since Maven is taking so long? I don't know much about it other than it is an automated tester and Parkers Reef seems to like it.
I thought about this option but I don’t like the cloud requirement. A piece of gear that costs as much as an entire PC should really be more self-contained imo

Did you do a product launch on the same day, or within the same week, or before, a competitors similar product announcement?

Did you, or do you, sell a something that can be used by a competitor's product that you are building, launching, that is used to generate revenue. Even a little revenue. All the while promoting how you are open and for the hobbyist yet locking down a similar mechanism so that one can't do the same to you?

I mean I get it, you want to see the greater good. But even neutral hobbyist can see through the haze of bong smoke...

Profit is not the issue and you are shifting context and reframing my point.

You came to their defense with the context that they are acting in good faith -- altruistic and innovative -- and being treated unfairly by unreasonable, if not psychotic, people.

I responded and indicated that this has nothing to do with profit, it has to do with business practices and marketing decisions creating mistrust and frustration with current and prospective customers. It has to do with them working to create a captive consumables market while disrupting their competitors. You may be fine with all of that, but others don't have to be.

I just dont see a point to tripping on it. They will likely never announce early again and I wouldnt blame them. People love Apple products. Tell me they are different. Neutral is exactly where I sit. I have no horse in this race. At the end of the day I am a consumer of these products like everyone else, I just dont NEED this product to validate having the other parts of their lineup and the speed at which they release it means next to nothing to me. From a business standpoint their competitors have an edge right now and should use it. I shared what was expressed to me when I spoke with coral vue and I completely understand their stance. The impatience for a product that no one has paid for is something else entirely. No one has lost anything on this product so it all seems a bit dramatic to me.
