Any updates on the Maven?

Anyone have any updates or ideas on when the Coralvue Maven will be released?

I had a trident for about a year before it met its fate in the trash can. I had so many issues with it I found it easier and less time consuming to just use all my Hanna checkers.

I’m really hoping the Maven will be a better answer to the trident.
I don't run any type of main controller but was following the release.
I love your Avatar by the way!😻

Pro tip: don’t buy 1st gen. You’re just beta testers for these companies on your own dime
Generally I would agree. In this case it may still be valid, but they are doing a ton of extra testing here.

Multiple of the testing units out there have had extra testing. The Trident NP was tested in secret for years and look at that debacle

I don’t trust new tech in general. I certainly don’t trust CoralVue with new tech either

Thats fair.

I think if anyone asks CV about the Maven, they were certainly up front with me about it when I chatted with them.

I am looking forward to its release when it does come, and it still seems to be quite unknown at this time when that will be unfortunately.

This is my first experience in the controller world, it’s a double edge sword. There’s some things I like about it and they do a good job. However when something breaks or just doesn’t work it actually is more of a pain then not running one lol

Thanks for the kind words, I wanted a fun aviator and so far this one has been great lol

I don't think they have been upfront at all about the Maven. It's a joke now in the Official Hydros fb group, they avoid all posts about it, and seem to be refusing to put out a simple update video. @Connor At CoralVue
I use Hydros, so I do have some skin in the game, I also promote them because it's a good product. This Maven release delay and how its been handled is a blackeye.

There was one post in the last day or so that they've now disabled comments on. Before it was disabled one of the Coralvue people was even joking about the delay. Makes me kind of question how serious they are as a company.

Wow seriously!?!?

That makes me feel like there is no hope lol

The Maven was announced on April 12th, 2024. At trade shows they said the hope was for a 4th quarter 2024 release. Note that this was a hope and not any sort of official release timeline, but the system was said to be in Beta testing. David said he was actively using it.

Over that summer I asked a question of a vendor about pre-ordering the Maven and he said it was at least a year away. When I passed this along to the Coralvue user page on Facebook they all laughed at me. Even the owner of the online vendor that gave me the information attacked me.

We heard nothing until November, when they said they weren't ready and wanted to make sure the system was working flawlessly before releasing it. Everyone applauded the Hydros team for being thorough.

In early 2025 there was a video that related many of the problems they were running into.
Then after Trump took office, CoralVue used the tariffs as an excuse for the delay. They implied that they were ready to build before the tariffs prevented circuit boards (or something) from being received from China. Many people, even diehard Hydros lovers, pushed back at this as a flimsy excuse.

As far as I know, there has been no update on the Maven since early in 2025.

And now for my speculation:

I suspect that CoralVue never did have a working Maven. If we look at the timing of the original announcement, Apex was coming out with the Trident NP. This meant CoralVue's chief competitor would have a full testing system while Hydros had none. The announcement, along with the hope of a Q4 release, appeared to be simply a way to say, "we're working on a tester too, and if you wait a while it'll be out."

Many people did wait a while. Some people have reported that they purchased a full suite of Hydros gear in anticipation of also including the Maven later in the year, only to be disappointed with the delay.

We're coming up on nineteen months since the Maven was announced. The issues that Hydros has related to the public are pre-Alpha, prototyping issues. The claim that the Maven was in Beta back in April of 2024 was either a lie or David doesn't know the difference between Alpha and Beta testing. Or the Beta release of the Maven was so bad that they had to end it.

The lack of communication coupled with the deceit makes me question that the first version will be capable of doing what they claim. Or if it will ever be released at all. There has never been a video showing the Maven doing anything other than sit there with tubes coming out of it. Not even in a controlled environment. Does the Maven even exist outside of being a box that lights up?

For my part, I purchased an Apex system and am slowly converting my gear over to it. I'll still keep the Hydros to control my lights and wavemakers.

I agree with what someone else said. I do hope that the maven actually happens but to understand the timeline gives a good perspective to the chain of events. I think one way or another, SOMETHING will come out SOONER OR LATER. Since there are already systems out there, it seems like a matter of fine tuning the technology which is bound to happen based on demand. 20years or even ago no one would have seen automatic testing. I’m from a time when Hanna Checkers were not even heard of yet.

Half Life 3 will come out before the Maven.
It only took them 21 years? lol at least we’ll find out more later this month.

I feel this, I want that dang tester. I may have to buy a second trident, first one didn’t last a year before it met its fate in the trash.

Oh well, Hannah checkers have been working fine currently.

I really don't want to buy a trident.... that would force me to take the apex off my garage tank and switch it with my main tank (after I just switched it over to hydros) Give us the dang tester already!

If you look in the mirror and say Maven three times some guy from CV will pop up behind you and...
This might be the only thing I haven't tried... does it need to be dark or does it work with lights on too

Why would you trash it? If it was a year old, it still had a warranty.
