I set up a standard rimmed 75g reef but did more of a fresh water planted scape since my tank is predominantly a softie/macroalgae aquarium. It has a sloping substrate with large rock that sits on the glass but the tops jut out of the substrate. That is where my mangrove seedlings are so that as they grow their roots can reach the substrate and anchor themselves there. It also acts as a partial deep sandbed for denitrification.

Interesting concept. I actually somewhat modeled my freshwater aquascape after my saltwater tanks with the exception of adding a large branch to the center of the scape.

I don't have a picture on my phone that I can find unfortunately.

I used some rinsed aragonite sand in the front corner as a little "beach" area and then all I have rockwork along the back wall with little islands poking out towards the middle. The rock work has plants growing up and out of them, similar to what we do with corals.

The rest of the substrate is pea gravel and there are now plants in the gravel and sand area.

By scale I am. Meaning: picking corals based off their polyp size and overall coral shape. Basing it off the spacial dimensions of the tank.
