Anyone else using Selcon?

So about 2 weeks ago I started using Selcon to soak the various foods that I feed which include: PE mysis, H20 life Reef 1 and 2, cyclopeeze, H20 life mini-mysis, and New Life Spectrum pellets. My fish go bonkers once I put the fish food in so they must love it but was curious to hear of others using it. I usually use a 1/2 cup of water, maybe a half cube of frozen at a time (6 fish total), and .5mL of Selcon.

I love the stuff. I got my Margined Butterfly to eat NLS with it.

I use this with garlic Xtreme. My fish like the garlic even more than the selcon :)

I use it several times a week on NLS pellets or Mysis.

I soak all the food i give to my fish in it. pellets, rod's food, rotifer's, etc. I like the fact that it adds alot of fats and fish oils that the foods alone may be lacking.

I add it to my frozen foods when I remember while they melt in a measuring cup.

Just curious, but why would purposely put extra products that could possibly raise your phosphates in the tank; especially if you have a SPS tank?

My po4 dropped quite a bit when I started watching the food sources I put into my tank.

Selcon doesn't contain po4 or nitrates..

I actually stopped using it since I noticed that the pellets I use, if soaked in water alone, smell and color the water exactly like selcon.

Neither do dry foods ;) I guess I am just a little more cautious about literature that is put out from sales companies than I might need to be :)

I used it for years also, but only soaked dry food in it since I felt like soaking mysis and other frozen food didnt do much. It just seemed to wash right off the frozen stuff the second it hit the water. The dry food absorbed it better so IMO it made more sense using it in that fashion. I stopped using it though.

+1. If I were to still use it, I would only use it on dry foods. I don't see much point to soaking wet, frozen foods in a liquid additive. That's like marinading your steak for 5 minutes :nerd:
