This is so not on par with you talented folks, but I had someone contact me looking for some custom shadow boxes. Wanted them out of cherry. So I picked up some rough stock and put these together. Three boxes for his three daughters. The pictures aren't the best but there is a light in each as well. On the back I made a holder for the light remote and to hold a flash drive.

So I started with this:

And ended with three of these:

Great work David!

I do some woodworking, but nothing lately. Here's one photo. And I used to write for a woodworking magazine. This table is outside because I used lacquer to finish it, which stinks with a crash. Nothing as advanced as you guys.

This is pretty, I like the splash of color in corner ends!
Satine and purple heart?
Looks like cherry and poplar as well?

With all the DIY and custom stands on here I figured a few if not a lot of you enjoy woodworking. When I have the time I like to make things. Built this today. A shelf for my bedroom.

I'm trying a finish to look like aged barn wood on it. Never done it before but I like the look and it was easy to do. I figure if I don't like it I can just paint over it. It will darken as it dries.

I would love to see some project you guys have done and maybe some ideas for future projects.

This is my African Cichlid tank/stand. Its mahogany. I'm currently working on a new build for a 100 that I have on order

Wow, some really talented people building some professional-level items! You all should be very proud of your work!

I'm a total amateur, but here is the canopy I built to accommodate my new lights 3 years ago. Amazingly, I was able to match the stain to the cabinet I bought about 10 years prior.

We recently had our basement wall fixed, and when they did the repair they had to pull the stairs away from the house. Our old stairs was one of those cement cast sets. When they pulled the stairs away they shuddered (we knew going into it that they would) so I've been working on this project the past few days. I built a set of new stairs out of wood. It's not much but I'm proud of it :) 20190108_193820.jpg 20190108_193829.jpg

Yeah I think I used one of everything I had lying around. There’s some spalted maple from my yard on the corners. Thank you.

Stairs can be tricky, no matter how you do them, but those look great for freestanding and removable

Nicely done. I guess you're not moving anytime soon....that looks super custom for that corner! Again, very nice.

I have been watching a lot of wood turning YouTube videos and with the blessing of SWMBO I got a lathe today. I got a small set of carbide tools made for pen turning but I used them to make my first bowl. It could have been a little deeper but I am happy with the results. 20190209_212508.jpg
