Anyone enjoy woodworking?

Here I am installing some barn door hardware. The doors will come later, stay tuned...

Here are the doors. Need sanded, stained and hung still. Pictures to come.

As a Contractor/carpenter my shop resides in the back of my truck most of the time.
My favorite tool would be my Hitachi sliding compound miter saw, but I just recently made a really nice purchase of a Makita track saw, man I love that thing, deadly accurate, and has made it really easy and safe cutting sheets of ply especially.

Wow I tried finding picks of my other bosses chery vanity she made (once was a tree in the back 40 too) I just got a new phone I'll take some pics the next time I'm in the house 110 year old victorian I take care of (one of five properties) I help manage.

This is what $39/each hooks will get you in the fastener department from Restoration Hardware:



You'll note there are 4 heads and 3 shanks, if anyone has a tip for getting the 4th shank out (It's basically flush with the board) without completely destroying the board I'd love to hear it.

I just recently made a really nice purchase of a Makita track saw, man I love that thing, deadly accurate, and has made it really easy and safe cutting sheets of ply especially.

My Makita track saw is my most used tool by far. That plus a 2 inch sheet of foam insulation and I have a 1 man sheet goods ripping station without trying to get sheets through a table saw.

Drillba hole in the center an use a easy out, or if it is high enough slot it with a Dremel cutoff wheel and use a flathead.

Yep, or sometimes I can take a small chisel and hit w/ a hammer to make a slot and unscrew it.
This is my biggest gripe these days, hardware made from crap metal, you get one chance w/ screws these days it seems and they begin to strip out, or worse, this happens.

Those look like brass screws. I always use a steel screw to cut the threads before using brass but even that doesn't always work. It could be quite a challenge to get out the old head. I just had this happen on a jewelry box hinge and chose to leave the screw in and glue a head in purely for looks. Structurally that hinge is fine without the extra screw however.

One possible solution is to use a larger bit to totally ream it out and then plug the hole and start over. If the project is to be painted it would be fine.

Yea I'm thinking they're brass too, which, for robe / towel hooks makes no sense!

I'm going to try drilling it out, thankfully this is a painted project but that doesn't make me feel better that a towel hook still has to be screwed into whatever I fill that hole with.

Also going to go try to find somewhat matching headed steel screws for strength. I was going to try a bigger pre-drill but honestly it's already just cutting threads at this point, so no sense in doing that.

Put a drywall plug in it if it's not going to show, an with brass or aluminium I always us a hand driver and not my drill or impact...

Yeah you should see the size of the stumps! I've sawdust spawned some of them with edible mushrooms lol I'm certified by Michigan Ag as a identification expert too...
