Going all the way back to post #159 in February, I finally had some motivation to complete the farmhouse table. My youngest daughter (who has been back with us since graduating college last year, working locally and saving money) is moving out on her own. She asked me if she could have the table. She will get a couple of chairs for everyday use and the bench is back up seating.
Her theme is an old beach cottage, so I ended up doing a whitewash stain on the base with an Early American Pine top. She wanted it "used" looking. I actually like how it turned out which is rare for my finish work...lol.
I actually wept a little when she expressed interest in having a piece of her pops work in her first place. It was either that or because I was getting my empty nest back. :cool:
Anyway, thought I'd share the finished project. It doesn't compare with the work of others in this thread, but at least there's closure to this project!!!

I paid less than $1 board foot for the oak barn wood I used in the picture above. It's all 6"-8" wide and about 3/4" thick.That's what I'm seeing. Guys with a lot of it laying around asking $10 a board foot and up. I guess they don't realize it's not worth anything if no ones buying it because it's too expensive.
Here's a test piece I did with the treatment. It gets darker as it dries. This has been drying for about 5 hours. Not too bad

Finally got around to knocking out the wall that separated kitchen and living room, and made the kitchen cabinetry match the aquarium.
I was playing around with different door options and inserts to see if the wife liked anything better.
Made a 10' "party" table for our boat house. Douglas Fir with a Walnut insert between the legs and around the edge. There are 4 benches to match, but for the life of me I cant find the pics.
Built these storage cabinets for the wife a couple of months ago. Huge brownie points :D
Got a load of reclaimed barn wood for my aquarium furniture. Built and clad the stand & doors with rusty tin inserts. Going to add some smaller side cabinets with bookshelves up the sides and a canopy with a rusty tin roof to match the inserts in the doors. Takes a bit longer since the dimensions of the wood varies so much. Once it's done I'll seal everything up with poly to give it a nice clean look.
