My max scraper is a few months old and it’s been acting real weird lately and creating scratches on my glass. I never come close to the sand.

It’s no longer gliding smoothly and it’s barely scraping algae. It’s like stuttering as I move it along the glass and it’s making an awful screeching sound. I tried replacing blades and pad with no luck. It feels like somethings wrong with the magnets. I’ve tried reaching out to flipper but it’s been 2 weeks without any help. These things are not cheap so I’m a little upset that it’s not only not working now but also making scratches on my glass

Yes.....I had it scratch two separate tanks...neither had a substrate. I threw it in the trash. I believe the micro scratches came when it was flipped in the tank.

Yes! I had brought a Max size and only found out it wasn't for 1cm glass. Massive scratches.😭 I was so confused as the blades were clear of sand yet i could still hear screeching. It turned out the plastic belly of the scraper was bowing and touching the glass due to the magnet strength on the 1cm glass and catching sand every time the fish would swim past to eat the freshly scraped Algae. Ive just bought the standard size and what a difference! Cant believe how much faster it is, despite the size difference. I wish i didn't learn they's things after the fact.😖

TunZe has a lift on its scrapper to prevent picking up sand. It does this by having both ends have a blade to lift the center off the glass, so only the blade or plastic is touching.

I learned my lesson the hard way on my last tank, and will not use any other scraper then a TunZe.

I have had no issues with mine, but I rinse with a spray nozzle after every use.
It isn't scratching from picking up sand......seems to be from everything else lol. Just be careful.....I didn't notice any of my micro scratches until I let diatoms build up on the glass panels. Every micro scratch (that was previously invisible) became apparant. Now I see them all the time :-(
